How to order:

This is a practical guide to create an estimate and to fill-in an order of laminated flooring.

In this section you can find all the information needed to easily and correctly place an order for your Skema flooring and all its accessories.It is a practical guide that assists you step-by-step in placing the order.Follow it carefully and you will have the order for your Skema flooring, with all the accessories and tools for a nice and profes-sional installation.

4 - CHOOSING EXPANSION JOINTS AND SPLICE PROFILES

In general joints are positioned to subdivide contiguous areas, except for Maxim collection where, thanks to the very high stability of the raw materials used, they are not required. Large surface areas must be divided every 10 lm length (15 ml for Maxim). Joints can be coordinated with the various decoratives (page 59) and being covered with a particularly resistant laminated film, instead of a ordinary PVC film, they grant a longer product life.

3 - CHOOSING THE SKIRTING BOARD AND THE STAIR NOSE

Three sizes with coordinated decoratives are available only for Maxim, Prestige, Make Up and Facile collections. The more economic collection, Silver, has no coordinated mouldings.For Brio collection a special aluminium stair nose is available (page 60).

5 - CHOOSING FINISHING PROFILES

If you need special joints, you can choose from a wide range of items with different functions.

6 - CHOOSING INSTALLATION EQUIPMENT

Skema offers you the special tools necessary to perform a professional installation. These are professional tools that guarantee installation without mistakes and without damaging the flooring.

1 - CALCULATION OF THE SURFACE AREA AND SELECTION OF THE FLOORING

SURFACE AREA: to calculate the flooring required, we recommend you to contact an installer, who is the most suitable person. To develop and estimate, you must consider that the unavoidable wastage varies according to the arrangements of the walls, and increases in diagonal installations. Purely as an indication, the increase in wastage can vary from 3 to 5 percent of the net surface area.

FLOORING: Various criteria for choosing. Once you decide the decorative, on the basis of your available budget, you can identify the most suitable collection among the various ranges (pages 4, 7), according to the destination. Different list prices are mainly linked to the quality of the raw materials used in terms of dimensional stability, anti-static properties, resistance to accidental liquids spillage and wear resistance. Never before has the saying “spend more to spend better” been truer.

2 - CHOOSING THE UNDERFLOOR

The function of the underfloor is to protect the flooring from the moisture rising from the floor, contributing to significant noise reduction from footsteps. The higher density of the underfloor improves the acoustic comfort (SP 25 kg/cubic m and DB 80 kg/cubic m page). The current trend has shown an increasing demand for planks with the soundabsorbing underfloor already incorporated, under which however a moisture barrier is laid (page 61).

TOP LEVEL Raised FlooringSkema Top Level raised floorings combine the top technical performances of Skema floorings with the advantages of installation and maintenance of the raised floor. They are ideal for high traffic areas, such as public areas, offices, banks, etc. Top Level is available in the exclusive decorations of Maxim, Prestige and Brio col-lections with wood effect finishings, stone reproduction, patterns and plain colours.

After having installed the steel frame structure, you can simply lay the tiles on it,creating a flooring surface with the necessary place below for any electric wire or piping system. The Top Level floorings pass REI 30 fire testing with a heat expanding seal on the perimeter (see the accessories on page 42 of the price list).

FONIKA: soundabsorbing system for interiors acoustic comfort

FONIKA is the new soundabsorbing counterwall system for interiors made by processing MDF fiberwood panels coated with laminates. The planks have joints on the all four sides, and the soundabsorbing resonant chambers are positioned on the long sides. The installation system consists of various omega cross-section support strips for fastening the planks, along with clips that hold the planks to the frame support profiles and at the same time they allow the planks to slide.

UNIKA: counterwalls that decor with Brio

UNIKA is a wall covering made of a HDF high-density fiberwood support and a pla-stic laminated surface, with AC4 Class of abrasion resistance (EN 13329/2006) and IC3 Classof impact resistance( EN 13329/2006). It consists of panels, min. 10 mm thick, with self-centring Sliding Lock joints on all the four sides. PTo fix these tiles to the frame support, a special machining is performed on the female side of the panels, to allow the insertion of the fastening clip that, in turn, hooks on to the omega-shaped support element

VERTICAL Wall CoveringsSkema decided to transfer the design, the quality and the know-how of the laminatedfloorings to the production of wall covering systems. This led to the creation of the Vertical line. Wall coverings and the connected rooms acoustic comfort systems have a very good application in our new products, guaranteed by strict tests and patented by the Skema Research & Development department. These products combine architectural flexibility, high-technology and elegant design. Vertical has two collections: Unika - furnishing counterwalls - and Fonika,soundabsorbing system for the acoustic comfort.The real guarantee of the Vertical line is the experience Skema has gained in the laminated flooring market. When suitably applied, this experience provides objective reliability to this new line and its two representations UNIKA and FONIKA.

ACOUSTIC FEATURES

The soundabsorbing resonance chambers are created when the planks are installed, thanks to the special panel processing.

Acoustic absorption tests have been performed on the resonant chambers according to ISO 354, with 30 mm thick mineral fibre insulation with a density of 30 kg/cubic m and a 30 mm air cushion.

FONIKAFONIKA is the new soundabsorbing counterwallsystem for interiors designed by Skema. Thanks to Skema exclusive use of resonant chambers, Fonika can guarantee an excellent acoustic performance and, at the same time, elegant design that can be customized in the size, decorative and finishing.The basic principle used for acoustic insulation is that of Helmholtz resonator. Very special planks are obtained from a proper working of the MDF panels. During the installation, the planks, which are the primary element of the system, are coupled to create a wall covering and at the same time to form the acoustic resonators. These consist of cavities inside the wall covering, connected to the outside by slits on the plank surface. To improve the efficiency of the system, additional slots are made on the back of the plank to get an acoustical benefit from the air cushion behind. This plenum is filled with an insulation mattress that improves the soundabsorption of the counterwall andprovides heat and acoustic insulation of the covered wall.Fonika couterwalls are available with normal brown MDF, and upon request, with black, or with a flame-retardant red MDF support.

Sales conditions:

1) According to and due to the law, goods must be always considered as sold ex-works at Skema Srl plant.2) The delivery terms are merely indicative and not binding for Skema Srl, who is not responsible for any delay. Skema does not assume any responsibility for facts or circumstances that arise after the delivery of the goods to the carrier. Goods are delivered “free on board the lorry”, therefore all the unloading and porterage operations are in charge of the customer.3) Even if goods are sold delivered DDU, they travel at risk and danger of the customer. Therefore any claims to Skema Srl for compensation, and in particular for the loss, exchange, or damage of the goods during transportation, must be excluded. In any case, any claim must be filed to the carrier at delivery.4) Goods compliance and quality must be checked at delivery. Any claim, including those regarding the level of humidity, colour and tone, and noticing of hidden defects, must be filed by registered letter with return receipt within eight days from the delivery of the goods and in any case before the floor installation. If any defect appears during installation, the customer must immediately suspend the laying operations and inform Skema Srl. Failure to do this would result in a risk of forfeiture of all rights. The use or alteration of the goods by the customer constitutes acceptance of the compliance and suitability of the goods, and implies the waiving of any right for complaint or objection. 5) Skema Srl obligations are limited to the collection and replacement of the goods detected as faulty. Any claim ordispute does not give the customer any right to suspend or delay payments.6) Goods declared as second or other choice by the seller and sold and bought under the clause “as is with all faults” are expressly excluded from any guarantee for defects.7) The placing into service of the products by Skema Srl is carried out and starts with the delivery of the goods to the customer.

Therefore Skema Srl does not take any responsibility and cannot be held responsible for damages caused to third parties:a) Due to product defects that did not exist when goods were placed into service;b) Due to defects recognized by the customer or that the customer could have recognized through ordinary accuracy;c) Due to defects owing to a component or a raw material not produced by Skema Srl;d) If the state of technical and scientific knowledge did not permit the product to be considered defective, when the

4 - CHOOSING EXPANSION JOINTS AND SPLICE PROFILES

In general joints are positioned to subdivide contiguous areas, except for Maxim collection where, thanks to the very high stability of the raw materials used, they are not required. Large surface areas must be divided every 10 lm length (15 ml for Maxim). Joints can be coordinated with the various decoratives (page 59) and being covered with a particularly resistant laminated film, instead of a ordinary PVC film, they grant a longer product life.

3 - CHOOSING THE SKIRTING BOARD AND THE STAIR NOSE

Three sizes with coordinated decoratives are available only for Maxim, Prestige, Make Up and Facile collections. The more economic collection, Silver, has no coordinated mouldings.For Brio collection a special aluminium stair nose is available (page 60).

6 - CHOOSING INSTALLATION EQUIPMENT

Skema offers you the special tools necessary to perform a professional installation. These are professional tools that guarantee installation without mistakes and without damaging the flooring.

1 - CALCULATION OF THE SURFACE AREA AND SELECTION OF THE FLOORING

SURFACE AREA: to calculate the flooring required, we recommend you to contact an installer, who is the most suitable person. To develop and estimate, you must consider that the unavoidable wastage varies according to the arrangements of the walls, and increases in diagonal installations. Purely as an indication, the increase in wastage can vary from 3 to 5 percent of the net surface area.

FLOORING: Various criteria for choosing. Once you decide the decorative, on the basis of your available budget, you can identify the most suitable collection among the various ranges (pages 4, 7), according to the destination. The function of the underfloor is to protect the flooring from the moisture rising from the floor, contributing to significant noise reduction from footsteps. The higher density of the underfloor improves the acoustic comfort (SP 25 kg/cubic m and DB 80 kg/cubic m page). The current trend has shown an increasing demand for planks with the soundabsorbing underfloor already incorporated, under which however a moisture barrier is laid (page 61).
