Impact of US Women’s Performance on 2015 FIFA World Cup Viewing
US Women’s World Cup Soccer Victory
NEARLY DOUBLED 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup SOCCER VIEWERSHIP
The 2015 Women’s World Cup Final was the most-watched soccer match in US history. A recent EOVC community poll queried community members to find out how many watched only because the US was winning. The survey results reveal that four in ten were pulled in because of the US team’s performance.
Four in ten viewers
knew games could be streamed over the Internet. Of those,38% watched at least some games online and 15% said streaming availability led to them watching more coverage.
However, in contrast the last year’s Men’s World Cup which broke streaming records, FIFA Women’s World Cup Soccer viewers spent the vast majority of their viewing time watching coverage on live TV.
