Third Quality Quiz Competition

Rules

1. Topics for Quality Quiz:

The quiz will cover the topics relating to TQM and Business Excellence in general with particular focus on Continual Improvement related topics. As guidance:

ISO 9000 family of standards

Excellence models like EFQM, Deming Prize

Lean

Six Sigma

Business Process Reengineering

Benchmarking

Kaizen

TQM Philosophies and teachings of Quality Gurus who have made significant contribution in the field of Quality & excellence like Dr. W. Edwards Deming, Dr. Joseph Juran

General knowledge about the Quality movement in the UAE like Dubai Government Excellence Program and at world level

o Customer Surveys Topics listed above are only indicative & not complete list.

2. Rules of Participation:

a. The contest is open to all; however preference will be given to DQG members if the number of nominations received for the Quiz Competition is beyond the capacity of the event organization.

b. Interested organizations can nominate team(s) consisting of 3 persons (plus 1 as standby).

c. Individuals from different organizations can also form teams. Single individuals can also apply and DQG will help them form teams by providing them a list of other interested individuals who may be seeking partners.

d. DQG will appoint Quiz Masters, scorers, timers and judges to conduct the contest.

e. Questions will be prepared from published and well recognized sources to ensure authenticity & accuracy. However, the Quiz Master’s decision will be final and any appeal or protest will be taken as feedback for future improvement without impeding the current contest.

f. Participants are expected to participate in the spirit of healthy competition and will not use any unfair means to gain advantage.

g. All will observe the decorum and refrain from any excessive emotionally loaded behaviour.

h. Members of Continual Improvement Sub Group of DQG and people involved in organizing the event are not eligible to participate.

3. Format of Quiz:

1. Elimination round: In this round all registered contesting teams will be given an answer sheet. The Quiz Master will ask 10 – 15 multiple choice / open / true or false type questions. The team will be asked to write correct answer in the answer sheet within the stipulated time for each question. At the end the answer sheets will be collected and scored. Based on the score, top five teams will be selected for main Quiz Competition.

2. Tie-Breaker Round: In case of a tie for the fifth position, a tie breaker round will be held to resolve the tie.

Main Quiz Competition:

It may include the following rounds. Depending upon availability of time, some round(s) could be dropped.

1. ROUND 1: Theme based questions.

2. ROUND 2: Multiple Choice Questions

3. ROUND 3: Calculation round. (The teams will be given questions involving simple calculations. Teams are advised to bring calculators with them)

4. ROUND 4: Rapid Fire Round
