Who Can See My Tweets?

• Anyone who follows you will be able to see your tweets in their home stream.

• You may choose to require approval for followers by selecting Settings > Account > Protect my tweets.

• This is very uncommon and not recommended if you’re trying to gain a following.

Who Can See My Tweets When I Use @Reply?

The @reply grabs the attention of that specific user and will NOT be displayed in your followers’ home streams if @ is written at the beginning of the tweet.

This would NOT show up in the home streams of

my followers, BUT…

When Do I Reply Using a Twitter ID?

Use the @Reply at the beginning when speaking TO an individual.

Use it in the middle when saying something to your followers ABOUT an individual.

What is a hashtag and when do I use one?

• A way of grouping subjects of interest so they can easily be found by search.

• Can be very broad or very specific for an event.

• Example: for this Twitter Workshop, we might designate #TwitWork as the hashtag so we can better connect and easily find tweets mentioning this event.
