4. Ask them to sign your checklist
If you have an induction checklist, this is
when you ask them to sign it, stating you
have covered all of the previous steps.

5. Put into place any training
For example, manual handling skills might
help you to avoid any issues with Health &
Safety - and are in fact required by law if
the employee will be lifting etc.

6. Time to let them work
You may wish the employee shadows a
colleague in their department, so that they
can get an idea of how your company works.
During this period, think also about what
tasks you can set them, which might help
you decide what on-the-job training they
need too...

7. After inductions...
When your induction is complete, don’t
think you should just leave the employee
completely alone!
33 Give the employee a chance to ask you
questions, and even make mistakes -
providing a supportive and constructive
environment will help their productivity
33Make an effort to informally ‘check in’ on
how the employee is progressing. No need
to be too formal!
