The vegan life

It’s a new year and time to try something different. Veganuary is a global campaign aiming to get more people trying the vegan lifestyle for the month of January. This could be used as your Christmas detox or just to try something new.

Why try Veganuary? What would be the benefits for you?

Turning vegan for a month could be a change worth doing for you, it has plenty of health benefits as apposed to your usual meat diet, but there are still people unaware that they can get a healthy nutritional diet from being a vegan. Well, we can tell you that you can! Research and other Vegans experiences have shown evidence of people maintaining a healthy nutritional vegan diet.

What do you do for alternatives to dairy? Is it not expensive?

A common alternative for milk among vegans is soy milk, an easy and reasonably priced alternative, this enables you to can carry on with your usual daily dairy meals and luxury’s like milk on your cereal or in your cups of tea. This also contains nutrients that you need such as protein and carbs. As said before it is reasonably priced and you could pick up a carton of soymilk for around a £1.30. Other dairy products like cheese can be made from multiple sources such as Coconut Milk, Soymilk and even brown rice. Surprisingly to some there are alternatives for lots of dairy products.

What are the other benefits for me?

Wanting to lose weight or get toned up for your summer holiday? Veganuary is a step in the right direction. Removing a lot of bad fats from your food by getting rid of your usual meaty meals has a massive improvement on your health. This fat can lead to things such as heart disease, a stroke, diabetes, and other chronic conditions. This type of fat stores in your body and takes a lot of hard work to burn off.

Now, What other benefits are there?

According to ‘Environmental Working Group’ from their recent studies they have discovered that “If everyone in the U.S. took one day a week to cut out meat or cheese, it would be like taking 7.6 million cars off the road.” And one person could make their own difference as their research also showed “Eating one less burger a week is like taking your car of the road for 320 miles.” This would make a huge difference in the long run and contribute to expanding our vegan community.

The Animals

Animals are just like us, they experience common feelings and emotions the same as humans, such as, happiness, pain, fear, hunger, sadness, boredom and frustration. This shouldn’t be the feelings that we should force upon animals or any living beings, people say that it is just a natural way of life but put yourself in the animals shoes, mass populated, crammed into small dark huts and warehouses with your life span drastically reduced from 15+ years to around one year.

Some of our top meals!

You may not think you would enjoy vegan meals but you will be pleasantly surprised. We create alternatives to your beef burgers and bacon butties that will still please your appetite. Things like Grilled aborigine, soy cheese and pesto burgers and Baked Curry Chickpea Fritters make an excellent and tasty alternative to a common beef burger. And for your bacon butties you could replace with coconut bacon produced by multiple companies or even sweet earths hickory & sage bacon, there are plenty of alternatives for your favorite foods out there so plenty to try.

The Vegan Community

There are around 150,000 full time vegans in the UK, that’s around one in 400 in the UK. Although this number seems low it is seeing a huge difference since the start of our campaign. Between 2012 and 2013 the number of people trying the vegan lifestyle for the month of January increased by 40% that’s a significant improvement and we hope to beat that result and get as many as 50% more than Veganuary last year. We could all achieve that together just by trying it, whether its for a week, month or permanently.
