Reciprocal teaching refers to an instructional activity in which studentsbecome the teacher in small group reading sessions. Teachers model,then help students leam to guide group discussions using four strategies:summarizing, question generating, c la r i fy ing , and predicting. Oncestudents have learned the strategies, they take turns assuming the role o fteacher in leading a dialogue about what has been read (www.reading

What is Cooperative Learning?

Cooperative learning is a successfiil teaching strategy in which smallteams, each w i t h students of different levels of ab i l i ty, use a variety oflearning activities to improve their understanding of a subject. Eachmember of a team is responsible not only for learning what is taught butalso for helping teammates leam, thus creating an atmosphere ofachievement. Cooperative learning models have been used at all educational levels,
