Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to Graduation Week! I can’t believe how fast this year has gone!
Thank you to all of our parents who came to Baccalaureate last night. It was
wonderful to see all of you. I also want to thank the community for all the
emails and kind words of support. This community is so special and very
difficult to leave. I will miss you all dearly. We have a ton of information in
this Tiger Beat for parents with seniors, so please read carefully. Have a
wonderful week and I hope to see you all at graduation Wednesday.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 616-6431 or email A.S.Murphy@maranausd.org. We are here to serve you.

STUDENTS HELPING THE COMMUNITY
Our Welding students helped Picture Rocks Fire Department with their fire truck
this quarter. They removed the front bumper, welded the wench channel to the
frame of the truck, and re-fabricated the bumper mounts for the bumper. They cut a
hole in the bumper for the wench cable to go through and re-installed the front
bumper. On the top of the truck they fabricated a roof rack out of square tubing,
covered it with aluminum diamond plate, cut out the fire department’s logo and
letters using the CNC plasma cutter, and installed flood lights. Our Fire Department
was very appreciative and our students were able to practice real world application
of skills they learn in the classroom.

Graduation Information
REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN GRADUATION CEREMONY
Participating seniors MUST attend all practices, be prompt for all scheduled times and
follow the guidelines outlined in this letter. Every attempt will be made to issue caps
and gowns only to those who appear to meet the graduation requirements. Issuance of a
cap and gown does not guarantee that all requirements have been met and the student is
cleared to graduate. All students must be cleared through the registrar, Mrs. Moore,
before they can participate in the graduation ceremony and/or receive their diploma.
Students who have not completed requirements will NOT be allowed to participate in
any rehearsals or ceremonies of graduation. If you choose not to participate, you MUST
inform the principal’s secretary, Mrs. Rowe, ASAP and pick up your diploma from Mrs.
Rowe on or after Tuesday, May 26th during the hours of 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.
DRESS CODE FOR GRADUATION
In the letter I sent home to parents I outlined the dress code for the ceremony. We can’t
have heels on the turf so please wear flats or wedges. The students can only wear the
academy sashes, student council sashes, NHS sashes, and cords/school pins with their
caps and gowns. Our students are prohibited from decorating their caps, wearing leis, or
other sashes, i.e. JTED sashes. If you are borrowing a gown, please ensure your child has
purchased an academy sash and tassel. They will be available at the bookstore and at
graduation practice tomorrow. Let me know if you have any questions.
Your children MUST be at practice if they want to participate in the graduation
ceremony. Graduation practice is at 1 pm tomorrow.
The gates will open at 6pm in order to get into the stadium for graduation.

Graduation Information
PARKING FOR SENIORS
The options for parking are as follows:
Graduates can be dropped off. Graduates can come with their families and park in the west lot. Graduates attending Grad Night at MHS will receive a special parking pass and they will be able to park in the bus lot behind our Agricultural Science building. This parking will be first come, first serve. I encourage you to car pool. Golden tickets will be handed out to Grad Night participants at graduation rehearsal.
PARKING FOR GUESTS AND HANDICAP INFORMATION
Parking will be very limited. Please consider car- pooling to decrease the number of vehicles in need of spaces.
The entrance to the stadium will be from the west parking lot only. Handicapped parking will be in the west parking lot in the first (North) row in front of the gym. Availability will be on a first come, first served basis. Handicapped parking will be for the vehicles with handicapped plates or tags ONLY.
Handicapped seating will be in front of the stands on the track. Due to limited seating, the disabled person and one family member may sit in the handicapped section. Arrangements must be made in advance in order to have handicapped seating. Please email Mrs. Rowe at k.l.rowe@maranausd.org or call her at 616-6431 by Friday, May 15th.
GUEST EXPECTATIONS FOR OUR GRADUATION CEREMONY
Please help us in communicating to your family, friends and graduating seniors the
dignity of this ceremony. Beach balls, air horns, silly string, screaming, etc. serve only to
disrupt the ceremony and detract from the accomplishments of the seniors who are
walking across the stage. Everyone who has met graduation requirements and is
receiving a diploma deserves their “moment in the spotlight,” free of rude and
inappropriate behavior from others.
In addition, guests will be invited onto the field after the ceremony to congratulate their
graduates. Due to our new, beautiful turf field the items below are prohibited on the
field.
Any size heels (please wear wedges or flats)
Chewing gum/Beverages/Food of any kind/Sunflower seeds Motorized vehicles Tobacco products/e-cigarettes Any celebratory items such as confetti, poppers, silly string etc.
