Smarter working includes:
• Home working and remote working,
• Flexible working and staggered hours,
• Teleconferencing, videoconferencing (including tele-presence) and web conferencing
.... for the purpose of travelling to, and for, work.
Why Should We Develop a Culture of Smarter Working?
• Reductions in operational costs due to rationalisation of office space;

• Reductions in commuter travel costs due to remote and home working;
• Improvements to overall productivity, through more working options being available;

WWF 1-in-5 Challenge: Baseline
• Launched in July 2009
• Twelve companies and organisations including; Balfour Beatty, Lloyds TSB, BSkyB, BT, Microsoft, Skanska and Vodafone UK.
• The Challenge community has committed to cut 20% of its business flights within five years and achieve a reduction in emissions.
• The twelve members of the Challenge, represent over 335,000 employees, spent £98 million on business flights and took 521,000 flights.

WWF 1-in-5 Challenge: Achievements
• Over two years, the results show that WWF’s One in Five Challenge has helped to:
• Cut 73,848 flights• Saved £21 million in avoided flights• Reduced flight kilometres by 92 million• Reduced emissions by 26,455 tonnes of CO2.
