Beginning of Maruti • Founded in 1981 as Maruti Udyog

Limited and was a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan.

• Initially the GOI had 76% stakes in the company and Suzuki had only 24% stakes.

• By 2007, GOI sold all its stakes to Indian Financial Institutions and is no longer a partner in it.

• Today the company generates an turnover of almost 4 billion $.

Oracle Purchasing• This was implemented by Maruti to manage

the procurement of capital goods, services, and indirect consumables.

• This process helped in centralizing the data, unlike the previous method where excel was used to maintain records and could not be accessed by everyone.

• This helps in saving time as one department may not have to approach other departments and can directly have the data required.

Oracle Human Resources• This software controlled various aspects of HR like

recruitment, payroll, compensation management, etc. • The details of each and every employee are stored in

the data base, from where the HR staff could access the complete work history and profile.

• This ensured that the employees received proper training and in case of vacancy which employee had to be promoted.

• This software allowed the staff of HR to focus on performance assessment and staff development.

Customer Interaction System • Also known as the C.I.S, this

facilitates the recording of the customer data

• The data is collected by the agent and processed into the system

• The daily inquiries are fed into the system and appointments with the customers are fixed

Dealer Management System• Now, the data that is collected by

various dealers is processed in the D.M.S.

• DMS keeps a record of the enquiry, until and unless the enquiry is not converted or closed.
