Meal Program and Kitchen
• Volunteers helped us prepare and serve food to our shelter residents and the general public
• 365 days a year, 7 days a week…we are never closed!
• 309 volunteers• 3,398 volunteer hours
Food Pantry
• Volunteers registered clients and helped make shopping lists, they also filled bags with food
• Volunteers also picked up donations at local food drives, unloaded trucks, and stocked shelves
• 148 volunteers• 2,189 volunteer hours
Thrift Store
• Volunteers helped receive donations, sort and tag items, hang clothes on racks
• 95 volunteers• 706 volunteer hours
Warehouse
• Volunteers helped us unload trucks of food from donors and local food drives, sort and box food for storage, helped keep the warehouse clean and organized
• 17 volunteers• 189 volunteer hours
Office Volunteers
• Volunteers helped us answer phone calls, file, prepare mailings, stuff envelopes, prepare brochures and flyers for events
• They helped us with data entry, bookkeeping tasks, receptionist duties, and being a friendly face in our office
• 26 volunteers• 915 volunteer hours

• Brown bag lunches served to children at area parks and Boys and Girls Clubs
• 3415 lunches served in June, July, and August
• 47 volunteers helped with the program
• 334 hours of volunteer service
Back to School Program
New clothing for school age children
Back to School Details
• 2008 was the first year of a new, extended program focusing on providing new clothing to children
• 153 families served• 474 children received new clothing and shoes• 2,370 items distributed• Over 40 adopters• Cooperation with Walmart, Shopko, Payless
Shoe Source, Kmart, Valley View Mall, and other local businesses and churches
Coats for Kids Program
• 15 volunteers gave 65 hours of service distributing coats and other winter wear to families
• Over 600 coats and snowpants• Over 200 pairs of boots• Over 700 hats, mittens, gloves, and
scarves
Christmas Registration
• 12 volunteers gave….• Over 100 hours of service
registering families for the Caring Tree and Christmas Food Basket programs
Caring Tree
• 18 volunteers gave 110 hours of service• Volunteers picked up gifts at Valley
View Mall and transported them to The Salvation Army, checked in the gifts, and prepared them for distribution
• 953 children from 358 families received Caring Tree gifts that included new clothing and a book
Christmas Food Basket Distribution
• 55 volunteers gave 227 hours of service
• Volunteers helped to fill the food boxes, carry the boxes to vehicles, and wished a Merry Christmas to everyone who came!
• Over 300 families received food baskets
Red Kettle Campaign
• Over 700 volunteer bellringers• These volunteers rang the bell for
1,640 hours• 14 volunteers helped us count the
money received from the kettles• These volunteers gave us over 60
hours of service• You helped us exceed our goal!
