You are going to watch three of Pat’s presentations he has made in PowerPoint.
As you watch the presentations you need to think about the following:
1. Use of fonts, colour and images2. Fitness for purpose and audience3. Does the presentation have a beginning
middle and end
• You will each produce a presentation to introduce themselves to the rest of the class.
• What would other students want to know about me?
• Why would this be useful to them?
• Is the information in the right order?
• Am I sure that other students will understand my information?
• Once you have their initial outline, they can begin to add more depth to your slides.
• Do not to change the colours, font styles, add images or use slide transitions at this stage. You should be focusing purely on the content.
Do Don’t
use the same background
use a limited number of colours
use no more than two fonts
use a consistent layout
use sound very sparingly
use animation very sparingly
use different colours for each slide
mix fonts
use clashing colours
put too much information on one slide
use lots of sound effects
use more than one type of animation
• Choose and collect pictures they might want to use to illustrate their presentation. You can bring in digital images on a floppy disk, usb stick, CD or save them to their laptop at home. You should bring these pictures with them to the next lesson.
