Extension’s position on ethics and policy
• Extension holds the highest ethical and moral standards related to livestock programs
• The approval or recommendation of unethical practices by faculty of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service is unacceptable and unprofessional.
• Has a zero tolerance level for any employee condoning, recommending or knowingly violating projects
• Violators shall be subject to provisions of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service

Importance of reading rules
• All participants should read rules thoroughly and regularly to so there are no violations
• Different shows can have different rules• Should have easy access to rules so
none are broken• Responsibility of each 4-H exhibitor to
be in compliance with all rules and ensure their livestock project meets all food quality standards.

Rule Infractions
• If agent comes in contact with a rule infraction and does not know what to do it is important they consult their supervisor
• Extension Administration is ready to assist in addressing any problem situation
• Complete and thorough review of all rules and/or policies associated with the particular incidence must

Ethics Policy
• Document that was developed to provide county Extension agents and Ag. Science teachers a means to inform all livestock exhibitors and their parent(s)/guardian(s) of those practices considered illegal or unethical in the care, fitting, preparation and showing of all classes of livestock.
• This document also describes the consequences to any individual in violation of the Texas 4-H/FFA Livestock Program Ethics Policy.
