•Review suggested 3-4 research priorities under each TP

•Session 1 – Discuss initial research priorities
•Session 2 – Identify areas of common interest
•Session 3 – Identify resources needed to develop research ideas and build research teams
•Session 4 – Next Steps
•Reports from each Thematic Partnership team
TP discussion Session 1- Initial Research Priorities
•Expected outcome of session: – Review / refine / redesign a limited set of 3-4 critical
research priorities for each thematic partnership for the first solicitation for proposals
•Task– Agree who will facilitate discussion and who will take
notes on flipchart – Discuss suggested research priorities and agree on a
final list of 3-4– Capture your 3-4 priorities on 1 sheet of flipchart
paper and post on wall in plenary for review after lunch – be prepared to make a quick summary (2-3 minutes) of the priorities you identify

• Quick reports on research priorities (3-4 min)
– Water supply / sanitation
– Water use efficiency
– Groundwater
– Non-conventional water
– Water, energy, food relationships
TP discussion Session 2 - Identify areas of common interest
Expected outcome of session: – Start building coalescence around common research interests
•Task– Agree who will facilitate discussion and who will take notes
on flipchart – Share each organization’s area of expertise and interests
related to priorities (make sure everyone has chance to share)
– Discuss common research interests / which centers are interested in which priorities
– Start identifying opportunities for joint research activities
– Prepare a flipchart that shows convergence of research interests and post with your research priorities

Expected outcome of session: • Start brainstorming what support you need to develop research ideas and /or to form research teams
Task– Agree who will facilitate discussion and who will take notes
on flipchart
– Identify steps for developing your research ideas and building research teams – how do you want to proceed
• Remember that resources are available to support your efforts
– Prepare a flipchart with the steps you have identified to develop your research ideas or form research teams
