Luke 15:11-31





11 Jesus continued: "There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, 'Father, give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property between them. 13 "Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living.





14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.





17 "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired men.'





20 So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

21"The son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'





22"But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. 24For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate.





25"Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27'Your brother has come,' he replied, 'and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.'





28 The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, 'Look! All these years I've been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.





30But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!'

31" 'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.





32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' "

LIFE IS LIKE A WAITING ROOM

LIFE IS FULL OF WAITINGS AND THERE’S NO WAY TO ESCAPE

FROM IT.





Many people dislike Waiting especially in our current

‘stressful demanding environment’

and

‘I want it Now! society





People can not Wait…..

The younger son can not wait..

The Start of the Agonizing Experience of the Father.





Start of multitudes of unending questions will come into our minds.





Start of numerous uncomfortable doubts will come into our hearts.





Start of a long intense waiting will come into our soul.

PRAY WHILE WAITING





JEREMIAH 14:19-22

19 Have you rejected Judah completely? Do you despise Zion? Why have you afflicted us so that we cannot be healed? We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there is only terror.





20 O LORD, we acknowledge our wickedness and the guilt of our fathers; we have indeed sinned against you.

21 For the sake of your name do not despise us; do not dishonor your glorious throne. Remember your covenant with us and do not break it.

22 Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, O LORD our God. Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this.

• Preparing for Rope-Soled-Sandals





MATTHEW 25:13

V13. Be on your guard, then because you do not know the day or the hour.

Trust that God will give us Strength while we are waiting

Obtain a Positive Attitude of Trust in God.


ISAIAH 40:31

V31. But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength:

They shall mount up with with wings as eagles

They shall run and not be weary

They shall walk and not faint

PATIENCE WHILE WAITING


HABBAKUK 2:1-3

V1. I will climb my watch tower and wait to see what the Lord will tell me to say and what answer he will give to my complaint.

V2. The Lord gave this answer to me : “Write down clearly on the clay tablets what I reveal to you.

V3. Put it in writing because it is not yet time for it ot come true. But the time is coming quickly


HABBAKUK 2:1-3

V3. And what I show to you will come true. It may seem slow in coming, BUT WAIT for it.

It will certainly take place and it will not be delayed.


God hears the prayer of the waiting father.

The younger son open his senses because of the great trial in his life

The waiting father who is Quietly and Always in the presence of God, looking at

the heavens saw his son coming.

FINALLY THE WAITING IS OVER!


•He Ran

•He Threw his arms around his son

•He kissed him

•His Prayer of Refuge, Prayer of Repentance and Prayer for Return of his sons were all answered prayers

FINALLY THE WAITING IS OVER!


The Waiting Father gave all the things he had prepared while waiting

• The Robe

• The Ring

• The Rope sole sandal

• The Ranch raised calf


Let us have a Feast

For this son of mine was dead,

But now he is alive.

He was lost,

But now he has been found.


CONCLUSION

Waiting can not be Avoided,

Waiting teaches us our absolute dependence upon

God’s mighty working.
