  • 1. Joshua 6 1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. 2 And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.
  • 2. "I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor." The walls are intact. The army hasn't lost a man. The king is on his throne.
  • 3. Romans 4 17 .... even God, Who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. When God speaks good things happen. 2 Corinthians 1 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, Who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in Him was yea. 20 For all the Promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
  • 4. 3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. God's Way is not our way. God does not need, nor does He heed man's wisdom.
  • 5. 4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. A little marching, a little music, God gives the victory.
  • 6. The trumpet of praise is a mighty weapon. God lives in the praises of His people. Psalms 22 3 But Thou art holy, O Thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. If we would have God to be active among us, we must learn to love to praise Him.
  • 7. Psalms 33 1 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. 2 Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto Him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing unto Him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise. 4 For the Word of the Lord is right; and all His Works are done in Truth. Praise and Worship are not suggestions; This is not optional. These are a debt we owe to God.
  • 8. 5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout ; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.
  • 9. 6 And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the Lord. Joshua immediately began to obey the Lord. He told the priests first, and then the people.
  • 10. 7 And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the Lord. They carried their weapons, but God brought the walls down. God gave the victory when they obeyed Him . Trumpets and shouting .
  • 11. 8 And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the Lord, and blew with the trumpets: and the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord followed them. 9 And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward ( NIV - rear guard) came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
  • 12. 10 And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout. 11 So the ark of the Lord compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp. To all appearances nothing at all happened. To all appearances, it was a waste of time .
  • 13. When we depend on sense knowledge , we will not understand what God is doing.
  • 14. 12-14 And they repeated it exactly for a total of six days. The people did not talk nor shout, nor make any sound with their voice for six days. Psalms 46 10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. There is a time to be quiet and wait on God . Make no decisions ; Don't figger it out. Just be still and know God .
  • 15. 15 And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times . 16 And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout ; for the Lord hath given you the city. Psalms 47 1 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph .
  • 16. God has already given us victory. Jesus paid for it all with His shed Blood. Psalms 32 11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice , ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart. Do you need deliverance? Worship the Deliverer. Do you need healing? Worship the Healer. Do you need provision? Worship the Provider. Do you need love or joy or peace or patience? Worship the One Who is love, joy, peace, patience.
  • 17. Psalms 20 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the Name of the Lord our God. We will see the manifested Power of God when we come together in one mind To worship Him with our whole hearts.
