Mission Statement
To provide economic and social assistance for the vulnerable.
Who and Why are We? We are Burmese Americans who have successfully
assimilated into American society. We want to provide other resident Burmese and new
immigrants the benefit of our knowledge Growing need for certain services by disadvantaged
family of the Burmese and others in the community that have not been met by the established systems.
Board members have been volunteering and working individually to fill this need and now have decided to work together
Our Values We are passionate about making a difference in the
communities we serve. We are not rigid with allowance of great deal of
latitude. We prize governance, accountability, honesty and
respect. We have no ethnic nor faith biases.
Current Priorities
cultural adaptation educating and sensitizing the communities as to
their rights and entitlements under the State programs,
employment options and job readiness.
Emergency Assistance SOS the community and churches for help First Baptist Church, KING Fellowship, First
Burmese Baptist Church, TBSN and KCM/KSP Met US Senator Amy Klubochar to inform the
situation on the ground Cooperated with World Relief Interviewed by KARE11, NPR,minnpost, kf95, Star
Tribune, Pioneer Press
Kick-off Formalized in June 2007 Registered in October 2007 with State MN office
Kick-off Activities Health Education Workshop Provided free flu shots Participated in international day at HTC with bazaars
and cultural dances Festival of Nations with bazaars, cultural exhibition
and cultural dances Educational forum on basic laws in US
Long term goals Youth Intervention Nurture the productive capacity of the most vulnerable
groups Personal life tools
o Budgeting and personal financial management. o Business start-up, operation, and management o Counseling on day-to-day life issues.
