Media Literacy

Media literacy is a repertoire of competencies that enable people to analyze, evaluate, and create messages in a wide variety of media modes, genres, and formats.

Media Education

The process of teaching and learning about media. It is about developing young people's critical and creative abilities when it comes to the media.

The problem is the lack of both.

The Facts

More than 70% of Children ages 8-18 have at least two of these media platforms in their bedroom.

Children ages 2 to 5 watch TV for more than 32 hours a week. Kids ages 6 to 8 spend 28 hours per week watching TV.

This is just television, it doesn't include the other forms of media.

The Solution

Media Education My solution is to create a program, class, or just a small group. It would something free and accessible. Where we analyze and discuss media and the way it makes up feel and how we react to it. We would also talk about the type of media we put out into the world. We would also create media.By transforming the process of media consumption into an active and critical process, people gain greater awareness of the potential for misrepresentation and manipulation (especially through commercials and public relations techniques), and understand the role of mass media and participatory media in constructing views of reality.
