Everyone including me has the experience of deleting something mistakenly or having something disappeared somehow.

Method 1: Recover by Previous Versions

No matter what kind version of Windows 7 such as Business, Enterprises and Ultimate version, they all provide “Previous Versions” feature.

This specific function will make regular backups to protect system disk data.

Therefore, we can take use of this feature to get back our data.

Now let’s see how to do it concretely.




1. At the first place, browse to the folder where your lost Outlook file is located.

2. Next right click the folder and choose “Restore previous versions” from the popup menu.




3. A new window will show up. And recent versions of this folder are listed under “Previous versions” tab.




4. Then double click the most recent folder among the list to check if your object file is included.

5. After finding the lost file, there are 2 choices.

.① Click the “Restore” button. When receiving a prompt message. Just choose “Restore”.

Then the restored version will replace the current one.




② Click the “Copy” button to store the previous version to other place.




Pros: This mean is free. And the recovery process can be carried out by yourself easily.

Cons: At times, owing to lack of new data, the previous versions may not be a lot of help. Besides, if you stored your Outlook files in other data drives, this feature probably isn’t useable.




Enable “Previous Versions” Feature for Other Data Drives

For the sake of protecting the data more prudently, it’s recommended to enable “Previous Versions” feature for other data drives.

1. Firstly, in “Start Menu”, right click “Computer” and select “Properties”.




2. Next when coming into the window of computer system. Click “System protection” in the left pane.

3. Then in the new window, choose the data drive which you want to enable “Previous versions”, and click the “Configure” button.




4. After that in latter interface, select “Only restore previous versions of files”. And later choose to set the max disk space usage for previous versions.

5. At last, click several “OK” to finish it.




Method 2: Call in External Tools
