• The weekend will be remembered as one of many firsts as Russia won its first gold medal of the games in the first ever team figure skating event. As well, the first ever slopestyle Olympic event took place in which USA took home the gold.

• Ice hockey ranked third as the women’s tournament got underway, while NHL players began arriving in Sochi following the start of the NHL season’s 3-week hiatus.

• Despite not starting until Feb 16, bobsled continued to crack the top 5 most discussed sports. What were people talking about? The Jamaican team’s difficulties in reaching Sochi and USA participant Johnny Quinn getting trapped in a bathroom, breaking through the door, and then tweeting a picture of the damage.
