A FACEBOOK BUSINESS

Business today is not like those days where you meet people and sit down with them to

negotiate prices for your product. Today if someone likes your product/service they will

make sure they like it and also share their interests with other people. Social

media has a wide reach when it comes to communicating with your customers, and

Facebook, well it’s like another planet. Mark Zuckerberg made Facebook; a social

networking site where people can communicate with each other and publicize what’s on

their mind. Facebook today has over 500million people liking and sharing information

every second of the day.

A Facebook Business

To have a successful sustainable business one needs to have 100% customer satisfaction.

Businesses today focus on this aspect to have a competitive edge over their competitors.

Now, to get this customer satisfaction they need to promote and advertise their business.

Since Facebook is a platform that has ensured a good reach to many businesses it has

become something more than just a social networking website. There are over 25 million

active small business pages on Facebook (As of 2013) and about 757million daily users on

Facebook, a smart business mind can calculate the amount of reach his/her business can

get by simply creating a Facebook page or paying of the low cost ads that Facebook

provides.

SECOND FLOOR CAFE

Second floor café is a franchise with many branches in Taiwan; they are famous for creating

a home environment at their café, and ensuring a comfortable dining experience for their

customers. The café’s goal was to create a set of loyal customers and ensure more walk-ins,

thus increasing the sales. Therefore the important task for them is to ensure that their

customers have a great time at their café. So Frank Huang,

Founder Second Floor café thought of Facebook as a way to

let everyone know that they are good at what they do.By

targeting the right audience via Facebook ads this café saw

positive results. Their image as well as their sales increased.

Second Floor café used Facebook as their only marketing tool.

They created a Facebook page and had an internal team

dedicated to sharing and posting information about their café and their new menus on their

page. Here their goal was to address customer quires within 24hrs.

This was made easy for them because of facebook’s pages manager app. For example if a

customer posted a query on their page while in their store. The team managing the page

would get notified. The team would intern notify that particular restaurant manager and

they would take care of the customer. This was like a surprise for the customers who

choose to dine in at second floor café this also proved to the customer that the café was

strong when it came to customer service. To keep things fresh the Facebook page was

always updated with information regarding special events and new dishes in their menu.

They used the Facebook ads to promote their daily posts to their target audience, this

strategy proved to be a huge success for them.

By using Facebook as their tool to do business they managed to get a

• 20%increase in 2 branches within a year

• 77% of the audience reached

• 100,000 fans on Facebook.

CHUMBAK

Vivek Prabhakar founder and CEO Chumbak needed a cost effective way to promote his

retail store. Chumbak is a start-up online retail store based in India that was founded in

2010. Chumbak sells souvenirs, travel and tech accessories, jewelry and apparel all of

which are inspired by India and the “desi-pan” Chumbak also designs and sells fridge

magnets, t-shirts, key chains and other wacky products based on India- themed graphics.

Chumbak was new in business and wanted to create a community that were passionate

about their products. And this is what Mr. Vivek said:-

“There is nothing else out there that gives you the ability to reach out to your target

audience the way Facebook does”

Chumbak created a Facebook page that was vibrant

and featured their products in the most colorful

manner possible. The “brand new” tab on the

Facebook page helped them promote their products,

and the “contact us” tab helped the customers

communicate directly to the company. Chumbak

holds contests on their Facebook page thus

encouraging their fans to keep interacting on their

page.

Facebook is Chumbak’s only marketing channel and

through Facebook they generated

• 28% online revenue

• A very high degree of repeat purchase from Facebook fans

• 5x return on advertisement spend

• 35% of website traffic

Businesses today have a good scope of doing well if they use their resources wisely.

Facebook is a platform that enables businesses to sustain. Pages got their big overhaul

almost exactly a year ago when Facebook introduced the “Cover photo” and all the other

“timeline” goodies. It is no shock that brands love Facebook

After all, it’s free and always will be.
