Hacking almost everything … ProductGeeks Conf, Unpluggd 2015 Avlesh Singh Co-founder & CEO, WebEngage

How does it feel, every time someone uses the term “growth hacking”?

Growth hacking is the ability to run a lot of experiments …

Including filthy one’s like these …

… and the ability to MEASURE if the experiment really worked

Who should growth hack?

The more sophisticated ones should be selling, marketing or writing code.

How do I learn to be a growth hacker? http://andrewchen.co/how-do-i-learn-to-be-a-growth-hacker-work-for-one-of-the-guys/

Hint: Work for a guy who already is one.

This kinda folks

Growth hacks are mostly tactical

While strategy is for boardroom discussions …

How to get started on growth hacking?

1. Stop reading growth hack articles (and, while you are at it – stop reading TC too)

2. Start identifying the core metrics and growth drivers for your product/company

Start with knowing your funnel …

Never try to hack growth if you don’t have a similar funnel for your biz

And some common sense …

… to identify the area/metrics in the funnel you want to focus on, for growth.

Pro tip: Never try to optimize more than one metric at a time. Not even if you had $100M in funding

Then, unleash the beast in you …

Closer home, JustUnfollow, Freshdesk etc are great examples

Measure. Rinse. Repeat

Then, move on to the next experiment … Keep doing this for the rest of your life.

Does it ever end?

No. It’s a trap. Also, there’s no one magic silver bullet to rule it all.
