Welcome toTeam TalkFebruary 2014

02

So, as some of you may know, I had a baby last year and after many years ofwriting about the flexibility of Kleeneze, I suddenly developed a rather hugeappreciation for this aspect of the opportunity. I’m sure many of you parents out there willlaugh heartily when you hear of my naïve belief that she was going to slot into my life ratherthan somehow manipulate me into changing my schedule to fit around hers instead. They’re prettycunning these babies.

They’re also pretty expensive. “All they need is love,” said one of my friendsdreamily when I was pregnant. At the risk of sounding less than maternal, thisfriend was obviously completely deluded. You will need at least two decent-sizedrooms to house the glut of baby paraphernalia that you will undoubtedlyaccumulate plus a crate of Feliway to calm down your now highly-strung cats anda ton of petrol to drive them to sleep when the hours of rocking, tuneful singingand tearful begging doesn’t work (the baby, not the cats).

Of course, there is a serious side to having one of these time-and-money-hoovering little beings. A shocking report by Netmums revealed recently thatone in five mums in the UK is missing meals so her children can eat, while aquarter of families are living on credit cards and 5% have turned to loan sharksto stay afloat.

Childcare costs increasing while tax credits go dismally the other way has put many familiesin a no-win situation. It’s therefore highly unsurprising that those, such as Steph Tompsett who’sfeatured on page 10, have turned to this business.

Also, in this edition of Team Talk, we caught up with our newest Distributor of the Year,Peter and Jackie White. They’ve been walking the talk for over a decade and as a resulthave bagged themselves the highest accolade there is in Kleeneze. Having interviewedmany achievers of this prestigious award over the years, it’s become glaringlyobvious to me what they all have in common. They love what they do.Every single day. Yes, even the bad ones.

They seem to have a passion for this business that leads them to throw in as much effort as humanlypossible and reap these massive rewards. So how is that possible? I’m fairly certain that if you’d askedthem at the beginning what their dream job would be, it wouldn’t involve the word ‘catalogues’. Thenagain, surely an opportunity that helps you reach your life goals (having the perfect home, time tospend with your family anywhere in the world, a retirement that you’ll look forward to or a life free offinancial worry) is something to be passionate about?

To be your own Distributor of the Year, every year, is about walking your talk and doing what you knoware the right things to align with your goals. Putting your all into being your best self each day willinevitably lead to success and to achieving anything you want to.

We’d love to hear about your stories of success. Email us at [email protected] and youcould find yourself featuring in the magazine very soon!

Page 4: Team talk-issue-february-2014 kleeneze

Firstly, let me congratulate all our qualifiersfor the Kleeneze Spring Destination 2014. It’sset to be an incredible event and all yourpersistency and consistency is certainlygoing to be rewarded.

And that is, in essence, what Kleeneze is really all about– efforts that turn into results. Simply put, the more youput into your business, the greater the rewards. Intraditional jobs, doing more work doesn’t always resultin greater income. In traditional jobs, doing more workcertainly doesn’t result in fantastic five-star trips abroador cars that are yours to keep for life! This business hasunquestionably broken the mould, so do take advantageof it and share it around.

Our new catchphrase ‘Lifestyles without Limits’ isdefinitely one for 2014 and beyond. We hope to help asmany of you as possible create your dream lifestyles byhelping you help others to do the same. It’s not just theincentives that we reward you with, but the unlimitedincome and time flexibility this business gives. A recentsurvey revealed that almost one in ten employees in theUK (2.3 million people) would like to work fewer hours, even if this meant taking home less money each month.Thankfully, Kleeneze can offer both flexible working andgreat incomes.

Already this year, we’re hearing of great success. Thenew catalogues are creating some fantastic retailingincomes and helping many to build strong customerbases. We hope that you’re also enjoying the new Justfor You catalogue. The first edition of this catalogue wasa roaring success, so please let us know your feedbackon this second edition.

There are far too many 30 Day Challenge qualifiers tolist, but congratulations to each and every one of you! It’s fantastic to see our first qualifiers come through for

the 90 Day Challenge too. These are such simpleincentives that can give you a real boost in the earlydays of starting your business, so make sure youencourage your new starters to take advantage of them.

Many of you are committing to qualifying for one or bothof our up-coming Destinations, which is brilliant to hear!Jamaica is going to be simply breathtaking and while Ican’t say too much (if anything!) about our EuropeanAutumn Destination, you know we will do our utmost tomake it another Kleeneze spectacular that you won’twant to miss out on.

Tickets have been flying out for our Lifestyles withoutLimits event in Bolton in May. Building on this theme forthe year, we’ve brought together some fantasticspeakers who will definitely inspire and give you all thetraining and help you need to carry on building yourbusinesses this year. It’s here we’ll also be revealing thewhereabouts of the Autumn Destination, so all veryexciting stuff!

It’s incredible to think we’re only in the second month ofthe year! So much success already. Let’s keep it up andmake 2014 the most successful in Kleeneze history!

Much love,

Trophy winnersDistributors ofthe Year 2013Introducing Kleeneze’s

newest Distributor of the Year

There’s a good reason why the Distributor of the Year award depicts a soaring eagle.Introduced for the first time in 1993, it was designed to represent the forward thinking, goalorientated and ambitious attitude of the company’s most successful distributors.

This year it was awarded to two of Kleeneze’s most well-known leaders. Having joinedKleeneze 16 years ago after the couple were made redundant in their 50s, they went on tobuild a hugely successful team, qualifying for countless Destinations in the process andfulfilling some major life goals in the process.

Team Talk caught up with Gold Premier Executive Distributors and our latest Distributors of theYear, Jackie and Peter White to find out to what they account their success.

Page 6: Team talk-issue-february-2014 kleeneze

Trophy winnersDistributors ofthe Year 2013

You both looked very emotional when yournames were announced for the Distributor of theYear award

We were! We feel that it is the most coveted award inthe business. Everyone always speculates who will getit and when it is you, it kind of gets you - you know, inside. It is so very special and such a wonderfulaccolade for us and the Vision Group.

We’ve actually had this award one and a half timesbefore! [The Distributor of the Year trophy waspreviously awarded at the Summer Conference, until itmoved to the New Year Showcase in 2007 – Ed].Craig [White] has been awarded it twice and Jean andMike [Day] have also won it, which means it’s beenwithin the Vision Group 5 and a half times, which isjust fantastic.

It’s great team work and team spirit and something thateveryone in the team can use to further their businessthis year. We are blown away by it after all these yearsand the recognition for the Vision group is fantastic.I hope it makes all the team proud - they should be,because they do a great job, year in and year out, as wework together to succeed.

Over the past decade, your business has shownsustained growth – what’s your secret?

Kleeneze is such a fantastic business opportunity andhaving belief in the business and in all our futures, alongwith the commitment to succeed has enabled ourleaders all to have a continual flow of new distributors.

We haven’t had much change in our system, as changecan cause confusion. We’ve obviously hadenhancements to embrace online sponsoring forinstance, but we have never changed the fundamentalbasics, which gave us growth in the first place.

I have always believed that ‘out of the quantity comesthe quality’ and when new people begin to perform well,we and our leaders are constantly talent spotting, ensuring new distributors are plugging into ourmeetings, events and training workshops. Over theyears we have built an infrastructure that works and

through that we constantly find new superstars. As success breeds success more people areenthused, begin to believe and the excitement causesa chain reaction

How do you support brand new members inyour team?

The system, which is ingrained in our infrastructure, means a sponsor takes responsibility for giving the newDistributor a business plan, depending on the incomethe new Distributor requires. Then we follow up with atracking and coaching process in the form of contact, care and communication.

We find people skills is something that’s really importantfor new team members, who are beginning to sponsor,to adopt. Part of our care programme is an inductiontraining, followed by plugging them into group BOMmeetings throughout the UK, as our meetings are opento all, and then lots of encouragement from Crosslines. It’s team work. One succeeds, we all succeed.

You consistently have high numbers of teammembers at Destinations. How do you keep peoplemotivated? Do you have any tips when it comes toqualification?

How can anyone not be excited about the wonderfullifestyle offered to all of us for growing our businesses, future, incomes and lifestyles? We have such anamazing business, and to be able to benchmark ourindividual success each year with two annual goals, isamazing foresight from the company. Part of our groupethos is to work hard and play hard. We do we have funtogether, with many activities in the UK, but then towork to qualify for an overseas trip, whilst we increaseour income and future business prospects, is simplyoutstanding. The follow-through, the excitement, theimagination of the good times when we are there is ahuge motivation. I don’t think Peter and I individualmotivate anyone; we can hopefully inspire people tohave their motive for action, and when anyone setsgoals exciting enough the magic happens.

Page 7: Team talk-issue-february-2014 kleeneze

07

You were awarded Distributor of the Year in 2004.What sort of changes and improvements have youseen since then?

You know, we have a fantastic business model. I believethe additional recruitment marketing in terms of TVadvertising, a great opportunity video, improved onlineshops and better catalogues priced right, all add to ourcompany overall growth and individual growth. Excitedpeople grow companies - we have the tools! Right nowis the right time to expand massively for everyone.

Throughout the years I have always believed we havethe best business model and the goals for us is in thedevelopment of people. We have seen more Distributorswithin our group hitting million pound sales for the firsttime in 2013 and many more are nearly there. This is agreat benchmark for success, to build a business fromhome to turn over in excess of £1,000,000 - what agreat recruiting tool for the ambitious.

We were taught in 1998 by Tony Judson, PSG is theKey - SED is the place to be, and I am delighted to saywe have since our newest SEDs Richard and ClareChantler and more Distributors striving for that position -that BMW or £25k cash; bring it on!

We have many goals first in the development of people, that is our greatest pride, and our greatest emotion, andthrough that we have personally achieved much: aconstant growing income, dreams turned into reality, great times and an outstanding lifestyle. We havestrived to try build a balanced business in width and wehave always remembered that people don’t join to earnus a living, they have their own agenda, and we willincrease our income with the service we give. A greatman said: ‘Service to many’ and what better service dowe all get from our Head Office leaders, Lisa Burke andMichael Khatkar, as well as the Kleeneze HQ team.

What are you future plans (or vision as ismore appropriate!)?

We love what we do - we have always been peoplepeople. We want to see more Gold Distributorsachieving Bronze within the Vision Group, and fromthere on to SED, where we believe that super secureincome grows and grows to Micky Mouse Money. Wewant to encourage and coach more new SEDs and thento secure their strong SED businesses. This businessnever stops being so exciting and that’s because of thefantastic people in our lives.

New research from children’s charity, the Daycare Trusthas revealed that the cost of nurseries, childminders andafter-school clubs have all risen by more than 6 percentin the past year – more than double the rate of inflation.“A place at Britain’s costliest nursery this year (£42,000)costs 25 per cent more than a place at a top publicschool such as Charterhouse (£30,574 a year),” statedthe survey.

With childcare costs now outstripping average housingcosts, many parents are struggling to keep afloat withthousands being forced to quit work.

Two years ago, single mother of two, Steph Tompsettwas faced with exactly this dilemma. Having recentlysplit from her partner, the 27-year-old needed to replaceher household income and was determined not tobecome dependent on benefits.

“I was working as a payroll assistant when I had mylittle boy. At the time, my daughter was 15-months-old.I wanted to go back to work full-time, but having lookedinto childcare costs for the two of them, my wagewould have only covered that and the cost of travellingwith next to nothing left at the end of the month.”

Steph turned to Kleeneze. The direct selling companyhas seen a rise in working mothers over the past fiveyears, as parents look for opportunities with moreflexibility than their current job offers.

“It wasn’t only for the income,” admits Steph. “I simplydidn’t want to be working full-time while they were thatyoung. I started doing Kleeneze part-time around them, but as I built my business my income grew and I couldstart to afford part-time childcare – just to give me a bitof a break and allow me to focus on creating a securefuture for my family.”

At the beginning, Steph did Kleeneze for two days aweek. Then, as the children got older, she worked up tothree days and is now working the business full time.

“I don’t know how people manage in a ‘regular’ job,” shesays. “When I started working Kleeneze full-time withKleeneze and the kids were in childcare, they weregetting sick every other week! At least I could carry onworking, but if I’d been in a ‘normal’ job, I’d have to carryon paying the childcare and cancelling work every time. The flexibility of Kleeneze has really helped.”

To have two children in childcare part time costs Stephon average over £650 per month. However, her Kleenezebusiness covers these costs and more.

“The amount of money I earn now thankfully pays forchildcare and everything else we need, but it’s moreabout giving me something too. To spend all of the timewith the kids – and they’re very energetic – Kleeneze isquite a nice break!”

The catch-22of childcareFinding affordable, decent childcare has long been a problem for parents all over thecountry, but as the costs continue to rise and wages remain the same, childcare is nolonger viewed as an everyday necessity, but as a luxury.

Steph Tompsett

My StoryChildcare costs

“We needed extra money when ourdaughter was a baby. To us, Kleeneze was the only

option as it meant no extra child-minding costs and wecould still see each other rather than pass by whilewe’re going to other jobs. One day, we will leave our

day jobs and totally concentrate on Kleeneze.”Carole Webb, Silver Distributor

“For me, with four children, childcarecosts were definitely a key factor in starting my

own Kleeneze business. I still need the flexibility nowthat Kleeneze offers to allow me to cope with my

15-year-old who has ASD. No employer would havegiven me the time off that I needed.”

“I was one of the lucky few who managed to getthe 200 Autumn/Winter catalogues for £5 and Iblanket dropped them all before Christmas. Theyproduced a handful of new customers, but when Idropped the NEW catalogues to two of them, Igot one order for £122 and another for £90. Thesetwo orders included a vacuum cleaner, a donutmaker (Plus Book) and a sewing machine, amongstother items.

The customer who ordered £122 of goods wasthrilled with Kleeneze as she has rheumatoidarthritis and simply can’t shop for household itemsin person. Both customers also paid by card, usingthe fantastically painless phone payment system.

When I started my business just under 3 years ago, these orders simply weren’t possible and neitherwas card payment. Keep on bringing us thesewonderful improvements, Kleeneze.2014 IS my year!”

”Wow, what fantastic newcatalogues! The productranges are some of thebest I have ever seen inKleeneze and think thecustomers must be lovingthem too.

In less than 4 weeks ofcollection, over £4800 inorders from only 500books collected from customers.

What ‘s even better is that customers that used tospend £10 now spend double. We have also hadseveral £100 plus orders, one customer ordering over£270 and another £225.

These catalogues really are ‘money makers’!”

When Worcestershire-based John Phillips was made redundant from his job as anelectronics technician in May of last year, he tried in vain to get another job. With ayoung family to support and rapidly diminishing savings, he was beginning to feel thepressure when he stumbled upon an advert for Kleeneze.

My StoryJohn Phillips

I made over £1,000 in my firstfour weeks in Kleeneze!

“I’d actually joined Kleeneze 16 years ago, but had quitafter just 6 weeks,” John told us. “This time around wasdifferent, though. I felt positive and motivated from theoutset. When I’d first joined, I think I was really lackingin belief and knowledge, but above all else, I didn’t havea strong enough reason why.”

16 years on and John’s reasons for putting his all intothe business were strong. With three daughters, aged11, 8 and 4, and Christmas rapidly approaching, hethrew himself into building his business straight away.

“I remembered just how quick it is possible to make aprofit in this business and that the size of the profit wasin direct proportion to the amount of work that is put in.After seeing the Sales Plan, my eyes rapidly focused onthe sight of the 18% target! I could see that a monthlyincome in excess of £1,200 could be achievable from900 catalogues per week and gaining retail sales of over£1,000 per week. I immediately decided that mypersonal target was going to be £1,000 (15%), but Iwould still aim for the higher target of 18% to ensure Iachieved my goal.”

John Phillips

Page 19: Team talk-issue-february-2014 kleeneze

19

John wasted no time and as soon as he receivedhis 250 catalogues, set about aiming for a dailytarget of 150 catalogues out per day with pick up thefollowing day.

“By the end of my first 9 days, I was in a routine of dailydrop and pick up, combined with order processing andproduct delivery. It was the end of Period 11, so it hadbeen a great run up to the start of my first full Period andmy mission to achieve a £1,000 income cheque! Bythen, I’d put out 1200 catalogues, retrieved 800 andgained a retail of £450. With a current average of around50 pence gained per catalogue retrieved, it was clearthat I’d need to step up a gear or two in order to stand achance of achieving my goal.

“I increased, just slightly, the catalogues I was puttingout. By the first week of Period 12 and after 10 full daysin Kleeneze, I’d achieved Kleeneze’s 30 Day Challengeand received 250 free catalogue packs. I put out 1100books during week 2 and halfway through the Period, Iwas on schedule for my goal but I couldn’t risk the nexttwo weeks being consistent with the first. I was, however, struggling to keep on top of delivering thevolume of products to my customers and so took a

couple of days out from catalogue dropping in order toget on top of it all. Nevertheless, week 3 saw similarretail of £800 from 900 catalogues dropped and at thestart of week 4, I was in a strong position with another250 packs bought for the final push.”

By the end of his fourth full week, John was feelingconfident that he had achieved his retail target pf£3,400, giving him an income cheque of over £1,000.

“I checked and double-checked my retail figures tomake sure and a few days later I received my chequefor £1,063.66! My initial start-up fee was £60 for 250catalogues, I had bought an extra 600 for £250, received250 for free and spent about £50on fuel for my car. I hadtherefore still ’profited‘ in my first full period of theKleeneze business around £700. This was £700 that Iwouldn’t have received whilst fruitlessly looking for ajob, but instead was an immediate top-up of cash toenable my three daughters and family to have aChristmas that I could be proud of!

“This is just the beginning of my Kleeneze successstory. You see, Kleeneze works if you just plan andmake it work.”

Getting off to a flying start -Paul and Adele Davison“I’m a self-employed handyman and the nature of thejob means that work slows down over the holidays.Money was short and with a holiday looming, wereally needed the extra income.

My wife, Adele, is a full-time carer for our 3-year-olddisabled son, so she needed something that fit aroundhis needs, as well as the other two children.

We saw Kleeneze advertised a few times on theInternet and we thought it might not work for us, sowe sat on it for a week or two. Then we decided tojust bite the bullet and give it a go.

Six weeks later, and with a team member sponsored inthe second week, we’ve hit the 18% Bonus level. Withthat extra income, we can now go on our holidayknowing that we’ve worked hard and achievedsomething. We thought in the beginning it might notwork for us – but it did.”

Kleeneze’s first 90 Day Challengeachiever - Josh TolleyI started in Kleeneze basically because I was lookingfor a new career path after my previous one didn’twork out for me. The flexibility and potential that I sawin the Kleeneze opportunity was something that hasreally excited me from the beginning.

Having only been in the business 2-and-a-half months,I’m obviously still very new to it all, and so am still along way off what I am aiming to achieve, but I’mmaking progress towards my goals already.

In my first period my income was £218.33. At the endof my third Period, my income had grown to £337.03. Icurrently have 5 people in my team and so am hopingwith a few more additions over the next period, this will increase significantly again by the end of thenext Period.

Make sure you just follow everything that yoursponsor shows you, because it really does work as itis proving to do with me. Also, don’t let a bad pick upput you off early doors. It’s bound to happen from timeto time. A few months of hard work to develop acustomer base and it becomes much easier.

I am aiming to get on the Autumn European trip andalso the trip to Jamaica. Ambitious goals, butachievable with some hard work!”

Following the simple system -Mike Slattery and Lisa McPhilbin“We signed up to Kleeneze in September, afteranswering a local newspaper advert. I work for a multi-media company as an advertising sales executive andLisa was working part-time around our three childrenin a delicatessens. As soon as we found out there wasmoney to be made with Kleeneze, Lisa gave up her jobto work the business full time.

We completed our 30 DayChallenge and qualified at 13%in our first Period using themethod of personally presentingthe catalogues. It earned us lotsof lovely free catalogues togenerate more orders with! Wethen went on to maintain 13% in our second period, just missing out on the £2,000 mark for personal sales.

We have found that if you follow the very simplesystem, maintain a business attitude, apply a decentwork ethic and look after your customers, the businesspays you back. We are very excited to embark onteam building now and we know that we aresurrounded by a lot of very successful people thathave already built the same business and have avested interest in our success. That’s so reassuring.”

Sacking the boss - Linda Page“When I was on holiday this summer, I decided that Ididn’t want to spend another 10 years working in anoffice for someone else. I’d heard about Kleeneze acouple of years ago, I’d even been to a presentation, but the time wasn’t right then.

When I returned off holiday, I contacted my sponsor. She came around and by October I was up andrunning. In the first 30 days, I earned the 250 freecatalogues. By Period 12, I’d hit the 10% level and hada cheque for £243.07. I’ve now handed in mynotice and am going to start devoting the time togrowing my business.”

My StoryWendy Vickers

“I joined Kleeneze five years ago, as I was desperate toget out of my job. At the time, I drove a van for acompany selling sandwiches, drinks, crisps etc. tooffices and shops. In my very first 4 weeks I retailed£1,556, giving me a cheque of £486.00. Two weekslater, I handed in my notice.

“After three years of being in Kleeneze, I decided Iwanted to go Gold. I worked for 28 days solid, blanketdropping 300 catalogues every day I had spare. At theend of the month, I had personally retailed £9,255,giving me a cheque of £3,255. I reached Gold and, totop it all off, I was top retailer of the month.

“In December 2013, I fell down a flight of steps, snapping 3 ribs and puncturing my lung. I was inhospital for two weeks, unable to work until the NewYear. I was still in a lot of pain and discomfort, but Ididn’t want to let my customers down. I now have 650customer base and they needed me. Also I loved thelook of the new catalogues and wanted them out there!

“I went back to work on 7 January and put out all 650books, retailing a massive £5,537. In just one week, mycheque was £1,637! People say January is a quiet time, but this is awesome for just one week of work!

“Kleeneze is so much more than just money. Mybusiness has gone from strength to strength, I alwayslike to see my name on the top retailers list and that’swhat I aim for each month. I work around 6 hours a dayno matter what the weather, I just get out there and geton with what needs to be done. I you want to earnmoney with Kleeneze, you just have to be consistent, stay focused, work hard, and I think it is important tokeep good records. Make goals and put them into actionand you can reap the rewards.”

I couldn’t let my customers downIn December 2013, Gold Distributor and single parent, Wendy Vickers fell down a flightof steps, breaking her ribs and puncturing her lung. After a very short recuperation period, she was back retailing and placing orders totalling over £5,000!

“In just one week, my chequewas £1,637! People say January is aquiet time, but this is awesome for

just one week of work!”

“Kleeneze is so much more thanjust money. My business has gone from

strength to strength, I always like to see myname on the top retailers list and that’s

what I aim for each month.”
