The World Book Encyclopaedia defines PR as:
“An activity aimed at increasing communication and understanding between an organization or individual and one or more groups called publics."

• Who do we want to reach and how do we reach them?

industry, employees
- what do I want to tell them or teach them about my company
• Understanding your message and what you want to achieve
- what is my end goal for my communication
- what impact am I trying to generate
- which communication/PR tools best fit my message
