SAMA – What is it?

SAMA aims to raise awareness around the importance of gender equality, as well as raise funds for projects that address gender inequalities.

SAMA – Why?

66% of work around the world is performed by women, but they earn a meager 10% of the world’s total income and own only 1% of the world’s property.

The story so far...

From the age of 12 Geeta worked 14 hours a day, doing manual labour for an annual income of about $10 USD. With help from Plan she now runs a cafe that employs several family members.

Three years ago, preschools didn't exist in Laos. Now, with SAMA's support, Plan is making early education available to children like Julie - who loves singing and wants to be a doctor!

India Project - Deepalaya

Deepalya is building a better future for India's generation of street children. It is estimated that Delhi alone has over 100,000 street children.

Deepalaya was founded in 1979 to help children for whom the street is their place of work and home. The sad reality for most of these children is a life of hard labour and unsafe work environments.

The project has educated more than 44,000 underprivileged children from slums of Delhi and rural areas in Haryana through a school, and a vocational training centre.
