As said in The Pet Planet Magazine, its important to know youare capable of taking care of someone other then yourself. According to ASPCA.org (the American Society for Preventionof Cruelty to Animals), a man back in Brooklyn, NY wasaccused of neglecting his small terrier mix because of anuntreated leg injury. The dogs leg was amputated because ofthe infection. Because of this mans lifestyle, an innocent dog had to suffer. Animals cant be neglected because thats considered animalabuse. 6. You probably need to make more than one visit depending on how long the process is. Bring along everyone who might be living with you. Make sure to ask the staff a lot of questions. You may need to sign some applications and wait a few days whenyou find the pet for you. The staff of the animal shelter decides whether or not youre the perfect candidate to take the pet home. If they choose you, it is likely that you pay a small fee for the pet. (Usually its around $60 to $150) The small fee will put off anybody who is not willing to spend money on properly caring for a pet. Get everything ready. Buy all necessary supplies and food before the animal comes home. Set your home up for the pet so they can adjust to the new environment. 11.
