• Checking email at set times of the day

• Writing down three items on my to do list I want to accomplish at a time.

• Time Management and Balance

Homework Example: Self-Awareness, Management & Mindfulness Techniques

Homework Example: Self-Awareness, Management & Mindfulness Techniques

Rachael Hamby, Assistant to the President,

Western Resource Advocates

• A lot of overlap between these three concepts – where does one end and the next begin?

• Something I’m working on: presence in meetings – at the intersection of self-awareness, self-management and mindfulness

• Self-awareness – checking in on facial expressions, body language, noticing when I start to zone out, lose focus or start think about something else

• Self-management – practicing active listening, managing facial expressions and body language, notice and then set aside any emotional reactions

• Mindfulness – paying careful attention, staying focused on others throughout the meeting, using the meeting as an opportunity to observe others’ tone, facial expression and body language

• It’s not about me – all you can do is put your best self out there, can’t control what space others are in – don’t take it personally, use it as a chance to practice self-management and social awareness

in advance) • Meet people at conferences • Don’t forget to follow up after conferences • Share your passions

set limits on accessibility and who you respond to

• Kondo your connections

• Online Rolodex • Pre-Event Connection • Growing Your Network • Reconnecting
