1. Replace Barry/Jubilee Buildings- General / elderly medicine- Clinical Infection (HIV, Infectious Diseases)- Acute Brain Injury Centre (Stroke / TIA)- Imaging & Nuclear Medicine

2. Transfer Regional Centre for Neurosciences3. Expand the Sussex Cancer Centre

- Radiotherapy (Linear Accelerators) – Linked Units in East & West Sussex- Chemotherapy (Day Case Unit)- Haemato-Oncology (Inpatient)

4. Develop the Major Trauma Centre for Sussex and Wider Region5. Realise the Research, Teaching & Training ‘Dividend’

Conclusion (1/2)Barry & Jubilee Buildings- Model for stroke care (Acute Brain Injury Centre) developed by Sussex Stroke Network, approved by Sussex PCTs- Sussex HIV Clinical Network in development – aspiration to centralise inpatient HIV care but not yet included in modelling

Neurosciences- Move agreed through Best Care, Best Place (2004)- Supported by Sussex Neurology Network- Planning in line with Sussex PCTs’ Tertiary Services Commissioning Strategy

Cancer- Planning for radiotherapy in line with Sussex Cancer Network Service Delivery Plan and Sussex PCTs’ Tertiary Services Commissioning Strategy- Assumes linked Linac Units in East and West Sussex – better patient access

Conclusion (2/2)Major Trauma- Supported by Sussex Trauma Network- NHS South East Coast policy: Healthier People, Excellent Care (2008)- Care pathways being developed by Network and SECAmb/SECSCG Teaching, Training & Research- Brighton & Sussex Medical School developing Academic Integration Strategy- Teaching, training and meeting facilities included in development- Continuing collaboration with Universities of Brighton and Sussex and the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Deanery- Sharing the ‘Research & Teaching Dividend’ across the Region
