First Steps

There are a number of introductory steps that might be required before you begin your treatment at Southend. These could include:1. Seeking the support and involvement of your gynecologist.2. Referral to a local hospital/nursing home for investigations and possibly some treatment. 3. The possibility of more investigations or surgeries such as hysteroscopy or laparoscopy as directed by your consultant at the hospital.

Preparation For Treatment

For your protection and that of any child, we will need certain blood test results before we offer you treatment. Prospective parents must have a negative result for Hepatitis B,Hepatitis C and HIV. We must also have evidence that the prospective mother is immune to rubella, as well as her sickle cell anaemia and Thalassaemia status for those in high-risk groups. Prospective mothers (and fathers who might need any surgical procedure) with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of over 30 should try to reduce this number before starting treatment.
