John in costume, his costume fits the way we wanted to portray him. As right he is in a plain top (resulting of questionnaire analysis) where it was determined that viewer would prefer the main character to be wearing bright colored clothes. He is also dressed in plain jeans and simple trainers.

Glasses to be worn by John, throughout the opening title sequence.

At all times we must ensure John is wearing his glasses, for continuity reasons.

As left, Connie can be seen in costume. As a news reporter she is dressed smartly in a presentable fashion. Her costume design was based on similar news reporters.

Connotations of Characters

Blue t-shirt; Blue gives connotations of peace and calm. This matches Johns personality in which he also is calm and collected, to be shown in the way he handles such a catastrophic event without a major panic .

Plain t-shirt; The fact that Johns T-shirt is plain gives connotations that he has a rather dull personality, which links in with low self confidence. In our film we will try to portray him as a lonely sole (through eating dinner on his own), tying in with the colour blue used.

Jeans; Simple denim Jeans give connotations that John has the attitude where he is not concerned with his looks. Quite un-stereotypical for a student.

White, worn trainers; Enforce Johns attitude that he is not concerned with fashion or in the way he looks.

Glasses; We used old fashioned glasses to give connotations that John does not follow fashion as well as portraying him as intelligent but “geeky”.

Connotations of Characters

White and black colours; We depicted Connie’s colours to give the connotation that she is balanced between good and bad. This links in with her job role in which she is expected to give a neutral perspective of what she is reporting (not to be biased).

Connie is shown to be wearing make-up in this image giving connotations that she is concerned with beauty, stereotypical for many females. Also the fact that she is in a presentable fashion appeals to the male’s, here we can apply the theory of Mulvey’s Male gaze, in which females are always presented to be in the male eye.
