Network Topologies
What is network topology?
• Network topology is the arrangement of the various elements of a computer network.
• It is the topological structure of a network and may be depicted physically or logically.
Types of Network Topologies.• Point to Point• Ring Topology• Star Topology• Bus Topology• Mesh Topologies• Hybrid Topology• Hierarchical Topology
Point to Point
Computer -
The simplest topology with a dedicated link between two endpoints.
Bus Topology
Computer -
A signal from the source travels in both directions to all machines connected on the bus cable until it finds the intended recipient.
Ring Topology
Computer -
A network topology is set up in a circular fashion in such a way that they make a closed loop.
Star Topology
Computer -
In Star topology every node is connected to a central node called hub, router or switch.
Mesh Topology
Computer -
The value of fully meshed networks is proportional to the exponent of the number of subscribers, assuming that communicating groups of any two endpoints, up to and including all the endpoints, is approximated by Reeds Law
Hybrid Topology
Computer - Hybrid networks use a combination of any two or more topologies, in such a way that the resulting network does not exhibit one of the standard topologies
Hierarchical Topology
Computer -
In this type of topology, computers are connected in a hierarchical manner or order.
