SOME FACTS ARE FRIGHTENING:-• MORE THAN 40% OF WORLDS ILLITERATES LIVE IN INDIA

(UNICEF).

• IN LITERACY, INDIA RANKS 76th AMONGST 94 DEVELOPINGCOUNTRIES OF THIRD WORLD (UNICEF).

• MORE THAN 30% INDIAN FAMILIES DO NOT KNOW HOW TOOPERATE BANK A/C (WORLD BANK).

• ONLY 23% OF WORLD POPULATION OF 18-23 YEARS OF AGERECEIVE HIGHER EDUCATION. THE INDIAN RATE IS LESS THAN10%.

• THE PERCENTAGE OF LITERATE ADULTS IN SOUTH ASIANNATIONS IS:-.

WHAT VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATION LIKEV-Pre-L CAN DO :-

• FORMAL EDUCATION IS UNDER THE CONTROL OF STATE GOVT.

• WE SHOULD WORK ON OVERCOMING THE DEFICIENCIES IN THESYSTEM WHEREVER POSSIBLE.

• NON FORMAL EDUCATION IS WHERE WE SHOULD CONCENTRATE:-

(A) E-learning AGANBADIS:-

(i) WE CAN START WITH ONE OR TWO SEMI LITERATE ATTENDANTSFOR SMALL GROUPS OF 5 OR 6 CHILD.

(ii) THIS WILL PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT TO WOMEN, THE CHILDRENWHOSE MOTHERS GO FOR WORK, SHALL BE BETTER LOOKEDAFTER.

(iii) THIS WILL ALSO RELIEVE THE ELDER GIRL CHILD WHO ARENORMALLY ENTRUSTED WITH SUCH JOBS.

Why the State should invest in Literacy

• 20 crore population 15 crore voter , 50%- 60 % polling ( 9 Cr). Total Population spread across all districts, tehsil and villages.

• Literacy is connected with people. They consider it as a matter of Pride for his son/daughter thus easily communicable. ( affects 10 % of the state population directly ( 2 Cr) and Indirectly to 10 Cr ( word of mouth)

• In UP we have 42 lacs of new born every year ( 80 lacs of voters = 9 % swing)
