The Timeline of editing• 19th century - - Auguste and Louis were from France and had made the first dry plate in 1881, By 1894 they were

producing 15 million plates per year. By early 1895 they brothers had their own combining device with printer and projector called cinématographe: The films made in the 19th century included –

Moviola

• The moviola was invented in 1924 by Iwan serrieur • The moviola allowed editors to cut different shots and put them into

different places. They where used up into the 1970s, they were superseded by the flatbed editor. • Some editors preferred to use the moviola e.g. Steven Spielberg.
