Gender • Generally speaking, sport does not possess a stereotypical gender based
target audience however when specific sports, such as football, are considered stereotypes are evident.
• In the article “Gender Stereotyping in Televised Sports”, it is noted that ‘Women’s sports were underreported and underrepresented’. This quote exemplifies that the female gender is less catered for in sports broadcasting and suggests that focus is based more on the male gender.
• Specifically, football arouses a sense of gender controversy due to the preference to almost maintaining stereotypes.
• The attached screenshot, deriving from the global index summary of the Premier League evidences the contrast between genders in terms of football interaction via social media.
Age • Sports are commonly watched by all ages, particularly
those of younger age range, who commonly watch a football match of their respective team.
