MATERIALS Sketchbook min 8 x 10, max 9 x 12, with atleast 50 pages Hard bound is best Spirals get tangled Glued at the top fallapart 19. MATERIALS #2 Pencils at least 4 Drawing/sketching pencil pack with sharpenerand erasers 20. MATERIALS Optional: Binder pencil case 21. ASSIGNMENTS Quizzes, Tests &amp; Homework 22. ASSESSMENTHomework You will receive homework assignmentsevery week They will include art history research andsketchbook drawing assignmentsQuizzes &amp; Tests: There wont be many Some will be graded, some will notThese assignments worth 20% of overallgrade 23. ASSIGNMENTS 4-6 large scale unit projects 24. ASSESSMENTProducts/Projects: Rubrics provided at the beginning of allprojects outlining how they will be graded Grades based on how fully you satisfied theexpectations of the project, level of effort,creative solution to the problem and your useof all the time and materials provided Projects can be resubmitted within 2 weeks Worth 40% of overall grade 30-60 possible points 25. ASSESSMENTWeekly Process &amp; Participation: Given weekly based on your work ethicand activities during class timeWorth 40% of overall grade 20 possible points Includes daily warm-ups and reflections,art cards and technique sheets See weekly rubric for expectations andrequirements 27. WEEKLY PROCESS &amp; PARTICIPATION Because we do not have projects due each week,you will receive a weekly process and participationgrade. At the end of each week you will receive a gradeout of 20 points based on an assessment of yourparticipation and work ethic in each class. In order for your skills to improve in this course,you must gain an understanding of the informationprovided and practice the techniques and processesintroduced. Class time is provided to learn theseskills and it is essential you use this time wisely. The weekly grade is meant to reflect the credit youhave earned for the skills you demonstrate withinyour studio time. 28. WEEKLY GRADE, 20 PTSDuring class you have exceeded expectations andexcelled in your effort. You complete your classassignments and begin research or preparationsfor upcoming projects, help your peers, thoroughlyclean your area, etc. (19-20 pts)During class you have put forth your best effort.You complete the work assigned and clean yourarea fully, but do not go above and beyond what isrequired of you. (11-18 pts)During class time you socialize, play on the web,do your math homework or anything that is notyour class projects. You will receive an automatic0 for skipping class. (0-10 pts) 29. ASSESSMENTSketchbooks, Art Cards, Art HistoryResearch: To learn more in-depth about arttechniques/concepts and to prepare forlarger projects. Important to save and organize allclasswork, homework and projects. Serve as a record of what youve learnedand a reference tool for future art classes. Included in your Homework and Process &amp;Participation Grades 34. EXTRA CREDIT For students in good standing No missing work Good behavior Complete all projects on time Extra credit will range from helping withadditional clean up, to researching an artistor technique, to helping prepare for a projector art exhibition. Extra credit opportunities will be posted orannounced in classor, if youre ahead on aproject, see me. 35. RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK &amp; PROPERTY You are responsible for knowing where your artbinder, sketchbook, materials, projects are at alltimes. Cubby and class section bucket should store all ofthese items. Periodic cubby and binder checks willtake place. At times you may be asked to put your work inanother area of the room for storage or drying. Youare responsible for knowing where you put yourwork. 36. RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK &amp; PROPERTY Put your name on EVERYTHING to keep track ofyour projects and supplies. The teacher is notresponsible for lost work that you did not directlyhand to her. You are responsible for turning in completedworksheets, sketchbooks and projects on time andin the appropriate location based on instructionsgiven at the due date. When work has been assessed it will be returneddirectly to you for storage in your art binder/cubbyor taken home. 37. DEADLINES, LATE WORK Due date given at the start of eachassignment Expected that you will work both in class andoutside of class if necessary Points deducted for late projectsBehind on a project? See me about taking project &amp; materialshome Sign-up to finish it during Advisory, AcademicStudy or Activity Period Plan ahead - this room is not always open to 38. LATE WORKWont complete assignment on time? Your responsibility to communicate with me inadvance of the due date with a valid explanation ofwhy you need more time If you have not worked to your fullest potential ormade full use of class time you will not be allowedextra time to complete the assignment Assignments can not be turned after a 10-weekmarking period 39. CLEAN-UP &amp; MAINTENANCEClean-up OWN workspace 5-10 minutes priorto the end of the block (when I tell you!!!) picking up all materials and returning them to theirproper locations, i.e. where you got them from washing tables, chairs, tools, sinks, floor logging off and returning computers (if used) tucking in chairs/stoolsClean-up early = stay extra time to assist inadditional clean-up tasks 40. CLEAN-UP &amp; MAINTENANCE Clean up jobs may be assigned and rotatedthroughout the year. Everyone must complete their clean up taskafter cleaning their own workspace. Personal belongings placed underneath seat. Daily supplies should be on your desk whenthe bell rings this means getting out yourbinder, sketchbook and pencils from yourcubby on your way into class! 41. MAINTENANCE No food or drink is tobe consumed in theart room at any timeduring the day If you have food ordrink with you whenyou enter the roomyou must leave themby the door until theend of class 42.
