  • PROGRAM DETAILSDATESFall semester (late August – early December) A winter quarter/trimester option in Florence (January-March) is also offered.*

    COURSES/CREDITS Recommended credit is 16 semester hours or the equivalent.

    • Italian Language: Instruction is offered at all levels and emphasizes spoken colloquial Italian.

    • Elective Courses: Choose from courses in medieval and Renaissance art, history, and literature. You can also get training on art restoration from local artisans or take a figure drawing course held at the most historic Florentine atelier still in active use.

    INTERNSHIPSInternships at the Uffizi Gallery, the Medici Chapels, and other museums are available to qualified students with strong Italian language skills.

    * For students at colleges not on a semester calendar, the Florence: Arts in Context winter quarter/trimester option is also offered. For more information, visit ACM.edu/LonFlo.

    Explore the art and history of the Italian Renaissance in Florence, where the rich interaction between medieval Europe and classical antiquity truly comes alive. The Associated Colleges of the Midwest’s Florence: Arts, Humanities, and Culture program takes full advantage of the city’s rich artistic heritage, with opportunities to view many influential masterpieces of Western civilization.

    HOUSING Homestay with an Italian host family.

    LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT No prerequisites. Except for the required Italian language class, all courses are taught in English.
