What?

Shrek’s Adventure is an ‘indoor walk-and-ride adventure’ storytelling tour, inspired by the Dreamworks animation, which includes 10 fairy-tale themed live shows, several animations, storyboards, and interactive mazes and game shows.

The attraction offers affordable packages (£8.50 per pupil) for schools wanting to visit with large numbers of children, and offers school visits for Key Stage 2 pupils, with children aged 6-12 its recommended audience.

How?

After going to Shrek’s Adventure London, we put together a Risk Assessment to assess whether this would be a viable trip to go on with a class of primary school children…

Why?Shrek’s Adventure has been awarded the Quality Badge by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom.

The attraction offers a rich environment for inspiring pupils’ imaginations and provides a fun and memorable basis for further creative work. The attraction also provides accompanying materials to take back to school to use in the classroom.

We discussed how Shrek’s Adventure could be used educationally in a unit of work. Through constructing a Medium Term plan, we decided that Year 4 would be a suitable age of children to take to the attraction, and that Cross-Curricular/National Curriculum links could be made with Computing, Art and Design, DT, and even Literacy…
