QUESTION 5- PART 3:PRODUCTION CHOICES: WHAT CHOICES DID YOU MAKE DURING THE

PRODUCTION STAGES OF YOUR PRODUCT IN ORDER TO APPEAL TO YOUR AUDIENCE?

Mast head- When picking a font for my mast head, I wanted something that stood out but something that made the magazine look appropriate to its audience. When I was researching into looking for the best fonts I looked at already existing pop magazines, with a similar target audience to me to ensure mine would also appeal.

Images- Even though I am now happy with the images I have got on my front cover, this is only because I retook them several times because from certain feedback I had received and for me personally I didn’t like the way the old photos made my front cover look. Now that I have retaken them I am a lot more happy and think they make the magazine a lot more professional and like a pop magazine

Colour- when researching into what colours I was going to use on my front cover I realised that it’s a good idea to pick three main colours and stick to them. So for me I chose pink, blue and yellow. This was because they all worked really well together, they are typically associated with pop magazines meaning they would appeal to my target audience as they would recognise the colours.

Layout- most magazines contents pages tend to set out their page like this with various categorised columns, especially magazines aimed at a younger audience. This is because it makes it a lot easier for them to read and look through. I also decided to do something else that I have seen a lot of other pop magazines do is to include a smaller image of their front cover on the contents and label what pages certain sell lines belong to.

Colour- As you can see I have only used one main colour on this page, this is because I did not want to draw any specific attention to certain parts of the page with too many colours. When looking at other pop magazines contents pages they also didn’t use more than one main colour really probably for the same reason.

Image page- This whole side of the page was dedicated to just the images. As you can see I presented my collection of images within a collage, as I think it is something that would work with my target audience as it looks fun and something different to other magazines. This is because usually pop magazines have one singular image taking up the full page where I wanted mine to be more exciting and diverse

Text/article page- on this page I wanted to make sure that because it contained a lot of writing I made it looks as exciting and appealing to my target audience so they would want to read it. I did this by having different colour fonts, but not only did this make it look more eye catching and exciting it also separated the questions from the actual interview answers making it easier to read. Another thing I did was include a pull quote. This gave the reader an idea and would intrigue them making them want to read more.
