RATIORatio compares two or more things of same kind . The

ratio of two quantities a and b in the same units , is the fraction a/b and we write it as a:b . In the ratio a:b , we call

a as the first term / antecedent b as the second term / consequent There are six types of ratios;1)compounded ratio :- When two or more ratios are

multiplied term wise . For example –compounded ratio of 2:3 and 4:5 are

=2×4/3×5 =8/15

2) Duplicate ratio:- This is the ratio of the squares of two numbers . For example –

Duplicate ratio of 3:4 = 3² : 4² = 9 : 163) Sub-duplicate ratio:- This is the ratio of the square

roots of two numbers . For example – Sub-duplicate ratio of√ 9 :√ 16 = 3:44) Triplicate ratio:- This is the ratio of cubes of two

numbers . For example – Triplicate ratio of 2:3 = 2³ : 3³ = 8 : 27

5) Sub-Triplicate ratio:- This is the ratio of cube roots of two numbers . For example:-sub-triplicate ratio of = ³√64: ³√27

= 4 : 3 6) Inverse ratio:- This is obtained when first

term and second term are mutually replaced . For example –

Inverse ratio of 3:7 = 7:3
