Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot Plan Project title: Project: Project Description: For this project I will take photos of people that suit the rock genre. These people will appear in their 20s+, as this reflects my target audience. I will ensure that the people I’m taking photos of look like a rock band or artist. This will be through props such as dark clothing, objects such as guitars and other accessories and through the use of products such as hair spray. This will ensure that the models look like real artists. I will ensure that a band looks like Paramore, as this band is often used on the cover of Kerrang! Magazine. Photographer: I will be the photographer when taking the photos for my magazine front cover, contents page and DPS. I will mainly be using mid-shots, this is because they include the persons head to the middle of their arms, and therefore the audience is focused on them. However I may use a long shot for the photo of the band, as this way the target audience can get a look at their fashion sense. For the photos I will use high key lighting, this is so that the reader can see them clearly. However once the images have been edited I may make them low key lighting, as this adds to the rock style and help attract more readers. I am planning to edit the photos on Adobe Photoshop CS5 once I have taken them. I will ensure that the images are sharp by adjusting the settings on the camera when I take the photos. This is so that they are a good quality and so that I can crop the images quickly and easily. The title of the magazine is Riot. This is because I feel this is an appropriate stereotype of the rock genre target audience. This is because the target audiences tend to be seen as violent and aggressive people that would start or participate in riots. I plan on having the masthead in black, as this connotes a rock magazine. I also plan on having the masthead on the top center part of the page. This is so that it is easy to see and catches the attention of the reader.

Photographer: I will be the photographer when taking the photos for my magazine front cover, contents page and DPS. I will mainly be using mid-shots, this is because they include the persons head to the middle of their arms, and therefore the audience is

focused on them. However I may use a long shot for the photo of the band, as this way the target audience can get a look at their fashion sense.

For the photos I will use high key lighting, this is so that the reader can see them

clearly. However once the images have been edited I may make them low key lighting, as this adds to the rock style and help attract more readers.

I am planning to edit the photos on Adobe Photoshop CS5 once I have taken them. I

will ensure that the images are sharp by adjusting the settings on the camera when I take the photos. This is so that they are a good quality and so that I can crop the

images quickly and easily.

Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot Plan Reference images and ideas:

These 3 images are my photos of inspiration when taking photos for my

magazine. I chose these photos as my inspiration because these are what attract my target audience. The 2 photos of the single artists connote rock. They both look professional and like they are enjoying their careers. This is what the target audience wants to see. The other photo is a band image. They look youthful and like they are having fun, and this is again what the target audience wants to see. These types of images all appear in my magazine of inspiration because they have the same target audience as me and therefore I would want to replicate their ideas. Casting:

I plan on using these people as my models for my magazine; this is because they appear the same age as my target audience. I will use the girl as my main model and will ensure they display the fashion style of a rock artist, as she is a role model to other girls reading the magazine. The use of a female main model will also ensure I draw in more girls from my target audience in. these pictures should be close ups or mid shots, this is because I will be including both types in my magazine.

Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot Plan Model requirements:

These pictures represent the types of clothing I want the models to wear. This is

because the clothes are less fashionable and but still something that people would want to buy in order to look like their idols. These types of clothing are very

stereotypical of celebrities in a rock magazine because they are dark and effortless. These are clothes that you have lying around. When picking my models, I must

ensure they are all a similar height. This is because rock artist a appear to be a similar height in other rock magazines. Wardrobe and Look:

When I take the photos for my magazine I will ensure that the models are wearing suitable accessorize and clothing. For example I will ensure that the main model is wearing a band t shirt, to denote support in other bands. I will also ensure that other models wear accessorize such as watches to connote their stereotypical rock star look.

Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot Plan Hair and Make up:

When I take the photos I plan on having my models hair look similar to these celebrities. This is because these are stereotypical and popular hair styles and connote that the models care about their appearance. These hair styles ae similar to celebrities on my magazine of inspiration. I will use makeup on the my models to ensure no spots or blemishes are shown. Where: Most the photos will be taken outside as I can then either leave the background or remove it. When: I will take the photos in the day time as the sun will ensure there is good, natural lighting for my images.
