MADRAS CEMENTS LTD..DiversificationsIn the year 1998, the Company established its Ready Mix

Concrete unit to cater to the needs of the Infrastructure and Housing industry.

In the year 2003, the Company established its Dry Mortar Plant, the first of its kind in India, manufacturing plastering materials and tile fixing compounds, required for the Housing industry.


MADRAS CEMENTS LTD..3-Grinding plantsGrinding Plant with a capacity of 0.50 Million Tonnes Per

Annum (MTPA) at Kattuputhur Village, Uthiramerur Taluk, Kancheepuram District (Near Chengalpattu), Tamil Nadu was commissioned in the month of June 2009.

Grinding Plant with a capacity of 0.50 MTPA at Singhipuram Village, Valapady Taluk, Salem District, Tamil Nadu was commissioned in the month of September 2009.

Grinding Plant with a capacity of 0.95 MTPA at Kolaghat, Purba Medinipur District, West Bengal, was commissioned in the month of January 2010.


MADRAS CEMENTS LTD..2- Packing plantsPacking Plant with a capacity of 120 Tonnes Per Hour (TPH)

at Malkapur, Nalgonda District (Near Hyderabad), Andhra Pradesh was commissioned in the month of September 2009.

Packing Plant with a capacity of 120 TPH at Aralvaimozhi, Kanyakumari District (Near Nagercoil), Tamil Nadu was commissioned in the month of December 2009.

MADRAS CEMENTS LTD..1957 The Company was incorporated at Rajapalayam, in

Tamilnadu.

1962 The first plant of MCL at Ramasamy Raja Nagar, near

Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu commenced its production

1967 The Company issued 50,000 right equity shares at par in

prop/1:1 (Equity Preference.).


MADRAS CEMENTS LTD..1987The second venture of MCL is its Jayanthipuram plant near

Vijayawada in A.P set up .

1990 The Company decided to expand the capacity of Tamilnadu

factory by one lakh tonnes per annum considering the growing demand for cement in Southern States and the potential for exports to Srilanka and Maldives.


MADRAS CEMENTS LTD..1992 The Company set up a 4 MW wind mill farm at Muppandal,

Kanyakumari District,Tamil Nadu. The wind mill, Asia’s largest one to be commissioned in the Private sector, was set up.All the 16 wind turbines were commissioned in March 1993.


MADRAS CEMENTS LTD..1994The Company upgraded the capacity of the Jayanthipuram

Unit to 1.1 million tonnes and also upgraded the Cement mills capacity in R. R. Nagar and Jayanthipuram units.

1997The third venture of MCL is at Alathiyur in TN. 1998 Madras Cements Ltd. is embarking on forward integration by

settingUp a ready-mix concrete (RMC) plant near Chennai.The plant,to be located at Medavakkam, will have a capacity of 45,000 cu mtrs.


MADRAS CEMENTS LTD.. Madras Cements Ltd and a Murugappa group company

Southern Energy Development Corporation Ltd (SEDCO) could become first players in the private sector to set up a gas-based captive power plant (CPP) in TamilNadu.

Madras Cement has tied up with Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) For supply of gas and the fuel supply agreement was inked on April 15.

Madras Cements is one of the largest cement companies in South india with three manufacturing facilities(two in Tamil Nadu and one in Andhra Pradesh).


MADRAS CEMENTS LTD.. 1999

The company has tied up with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)for supply of 25,000 cu mtrs of gas per day from its Nallore Well,near Mannargudi in Tamil Nadu. MCL would install 27 Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSATs).

MCL is also installing a Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) package along with the ERP package.


MADRAS CEMENTS LTD..The company has tied up with Visakhapatnam Steel Plant

(VSP) for procuring slag, a blast furnance residue and a crucial input forslag cement.

2000 The Company has launched the Ramco Super Steel cement in

Tamil Nadu. 2008 The Company has issued Bonus Shares in the Ratio of 1:1. The Company has splits its face value from Rs10/- to Rs1/-.
