2. Agenda Why are we coming together in this kind of a session?
What are the knowledge domains? Whats new in the Association?
Strategic Plan ACUHO-I Online Communities Emerging Educational
Resources Whats important to those of us who identify with this
knowledge domain?
3. Why are we here? Delegates who identify with this knowledge
domainby interest, functional area, or passionin the same room. To
build our networks in the Domain with others who do similar work or
share similar passions. To identify issues and gaps in resources.
Building on the successful model of the Business Operations
Conference affinity groups where people in an interest area come
together to talk about the interest area.
4. What are the knowledge domains? Domains outline a body of
knowledge that is unique to housing and residence life. Task force
was developed to identify those things that make us distinct from
other areas, and the Body of Knowledge was first published in 2012.
There are 12 Knowledge Domains in Housing and Residence Life.

6. How are Domains Used? Gives us a language to use when
talking about the breadth and depth of our profession. Integrating
the domains across the Association in everything we do. Used in
program selection for events. Focuses development of new
educational resources. Guides the development of curriculum for
Institutes and other programs. Helps us identify gaps in our
current educational portfolio. Also helps shape the identity of
individual professionalssomething tangible to identify with.
7. Highlights of a Few New Programs!
8. Whats new in the Association? Enhancing our existing
face-to-face content conferences (Annual Conference &
Exposition, Business Operations, Facilities and Living Learning).
Streamlining processes so the end user has easier experiences.
Expanding our focus on education, community and identity at each.
Ensuring that the conferences meet the needs of the participants.
Refining Institutes. Exploring ways to expand capacity at
Institutes, and what/when institutes should be facilitated.
Developing curriculum that connects: To the Knowledge Domains. To
the targeted place on the participants career trajectory. And
connected and complimentary of the other Institutes.
9. Whats new in the Association? ACUHO-I introduced Online
Communities this month. Designed to share discussion/knowledge,
resources, networking and support. Niche communities form around
knowledge domains/subdomains and affinity groups. Online
Communities must demonstrate need and commitment to form and
continue.
10. Whats new in the Association? Each community will have 2
designated community champions. Champions will: Be familiar with
and support community rules, etiquette, and privacy guidelines.
Identify at least 15 individuals who commit to participate before
forming. Provide a list of 12 seed questions to generate the first
round of discussions. Nurture community engagement. Create new,
original discussion posts weekly. Explore opportunities to recruit
new members to the community!
11. Whats new in the Association? Redeveloped our online
education strategy. Implemented a new Learning Management System
that has a stronger learner experience in January. Refining
educational content in existing courses and certificate programs.
Expanding single course options. New this year: Project Management
RA Training Programs (refreshed!) Student Mental Health Coming:
Social Media, International Students as Residents, Supervision of
FT Staff. Plan to roll out 8 new courses a year while refining and
supporting our Architecture Series, and the Assessment and
Occupancy Management Certificate Programs.
12. Whats new in the Association? Adoption of a New Strategic
Plan. Executive Board has adopted a new strategic plan. Focus of
todays session is our knowledge domain, there are other ways to
learn about the plan while in Orlando: Ed Session 408: Townhall

13. Whats Important to us in our Knowledge Domain? This is the
time for us to simply: Discuss emerging and persistent issues.
Share strong educational resources we have found. Identify gaps
that need to be filled in our available educational resources.
