MESSAGE

Alhamdulillah! It is a matter of great pride and honor to present

the First Annual Newsletter of the “IEEE-SSUET STUDENT BRANCH”.

Looking back at 6 months, we, the entire branch feel satisfied in

having achieved the goals to some extent by providing some exceptional events, seminars, workshops and etc.

The seed we sow about a few months ago has become a tree

now and it’s time to reap its fruits. IEEE SSUET STUDENT

BRANCH has been doing a marvelous job so far and yet do not

want to hit its brakes. Both “COMPUTER SOCIETY” &

“ENGINEERING IN MEDICINE AND BIOLOGY SOCIETY”

accomplished their remarkable achievements but this is not enough. It is just a beginning to a new era in the context of

“SIR SYED UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY”

Both the societies are in working order now and are hoping to spread their roots deep down into the soil.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the

Management, the Faculty and to all the IEEE Members of both

the societies for making out this happened. Special

accreditation to Dr. M. Zeeshan Ul Haque (Counselor of IEEE-

SSUET Student Branch) and Engr. Najam Ul Islam (Chair IEEE

SSUET Student Branch) for their extra ordinary efforts, I hope

IEEE-SSUET will further prosper in times to come.

Ameen

NOTES

COUNSELOR, IEEE SSUET STUDENT BRANCH

Greetings to my faculty and staff colleagues, it is my great

pleasure to be a COUNSELOR of IEEE-SSUET STUDENT-BRANCH.

A good initiative has been taken from “SIR SYED UNIVERSITY OF

ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY (SSUET)” and ORIC of SSUET

to raise the morale of university.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the

world's largest professional organization dedicated to

advancing technological innovation and excellence for the

benefit of humanity. IEEE is the world's largest association of

technical professionals with more than 400,000 members in

chapters around the world. Its objectives are the educational

and technical advancement of electrical and electronic

engineering, telecommunications, computer engineering and

allied disciplines.

Apart from academics, students should also participate in co-

curricular activities. IEEE-SSUET is providing a platform for all

those students who want to enhance their skills. Students will

have an opportunity to know new discoveries about how the

natural and physical worlds work, new knowledge of human

behavior, new understandings of the record of human

achievement, of who we are and what our lives mean, and new

expressions of the human spirit.

IEEE-SSUET branch consists of four approved societies and

affinity group; COMPUTER SOCIETY (CS), ENGINEERING IN

MEDICINE AND BIOLOGY SOCIETY (EMBS), ROBOTICS AND

AUTOMATION SOCIETY (RAS) and WOMEN IN ENGINEERING

SOCIETY (WIE), all of them are focused on a certain knowledge

area. They provide specialized seminars, conferences, business

networking and sometimes other services.

I look forward to the new ideas into the world, with the aim of

improving human life and to provide a platform for the

students to learn, to grow and to think about their place in the

world.

Dr. Muhammad Zeeshan Ul Haque

1) LECTURE ON “BUSINESS ANALYSIS & TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION”

Some Moments from Lecture

on "Business Analysis and

Technology Integration" By Shamima Noor Hasmi

(Business Analyst, Ireland)

A Buddhist proverb warns,

“Be mindful of intention.

Intention is the seed that creates our future.” In a very

real sense, this statement expresses the reason for

business analysis. This

discipline is really all about choosing and defining a

desired future because

without intention (expressed

in business analysis terms,

“requirements”), no future is

more or less desirable than

another.

In reality, every organization does some form of business analysis whether it uses the term or not. For

many (especially larger organizations), it is an extremely structured, managed process while others

thrive on change and only do business analysis when

and as needed. The perception that business analysis

is only needed to develop IT solutions is inaccurate.

Actually, it is a critical component of any change

initiative within an organization whether software is involved or not.

The speaker provided insight into this fast-growing

field by distinguishing strategic, tactical, and

operational business analysis. You will learn what

“requirements” really are and what different types of

requirements exist. Because many requirements

define future information technology (IT) solutions, the speaker shared their experience on how Waterfall,

Iterative, Agile, and Experimental Software

Development methodologies impact the business

analysis responsibility.

2) “FYP POSTER PRESENTATION” CE BATCH 2013

Some Moments from “FYP Poster

Presentation” CE Batch 2013

Let the poster do the talking:

A poster is simply a static, visual

medium. It is used to communicate ideas and message

to a large audience. The important

thing to remember is that the poster does most of the ‘talking

for you’. That is, if designed

properly, it will carry the message without the need to explain what

is on it. You merely need to stand

next to it and answer any question

that readers may have. Usually

these questions will be asked because the readers are so

interested in your project that

they want to know more (not

because they did not understand

what is on the poster!)
