My Dog & Me App DesignBy Baltej Singh, Chris Brown & Ben Wallis Year 8

Our project is a mobile app for phones and tablets which allows the users to log information and details about their dog.

The user is able to insert reminders e.g. walk, feed, etc.If the dog is “under the weather” the user is able to enter any symptoms in which will link to a web site and the application will be able to inform the user on how bad the problem is and what precautions the user should make.

If the problem is major one, then the app will find the nearest vets and will tell the user how urgent/serious the problem is.

Baltej has worked on the project and shared the ideas.

What have we learntWe have learnt about the different types of apps and users.

We learnt how to market research on different app markets.

We learnt how to use the program called Balsamiq to create the wire frame.

We have also learnt how to determine the user ,who the application applies to.

What was difficult about the project  Coming up with a good idea for an App, that had not already been created was the hardest part.

Then using the Balsamiq mockup software was quite difficult to get our head around but as our skills developed it gradually got clearer and easier to work out. The market research was long and challenging too as the market keeps on changing.

Market research We carried out questionnaires to establish the need and to gain understanding of our users. We found a clear problem and a profile of our user through our questionnaires.

We also did market research on all the apps available and found no-free apps that addressed the problem of how to care for a pet dog.
