Technical Limitations of e-Commerce

There is a lack of system security, reliability, standards, and some communication protocols.

--When operating in the Internet, a lot of reliability, security and standardization issues appear. This is due to the number of different competitors in the Internet marketplace as well as the inherent development philosophy of the Internet. There is insufficient telecommunication bandwidth.--The network experiences serious problems of traffic and lack of bandwidth because of the rapid increase of connected users. In addition, the multimedia applications and the booming needs for more entertaining, informative, educational and other content hinder quick access to the services provided through the Internet.

infrastructure with current organization.

--Many companies use IT systems, which are old (i.e. Legacy systems) and were developed to support different needs and different kinds of software and applications. Not all people have access of internet.--Several countries like the Scandinavian countries or the USA have a penetration of the Internet reaching 35-50%. But in most of the other countries (even in western European ones) Internet users reach much smaller numbers.

Continued… Extra cost needed to build infrastructure.--Although companies comprehend the importance of e-Commerce in the modern business environment, the investment in infrastructure is a factor that needs to be agreed and realized.

Non-Technical Limitations of e-Commerce

Legal Issues--when the data falls in the hands of strangers.

Lack of skilled personnel --difficulty in finding the skilled www developers.

Loss of contact with customers--sometimes customers feel that they do not receive any attention.

Continued… Uncertainty and lack of information--most of the companies has never used any means of electronic communication , their customer on internet is unknown mode for them.

Some business process never be available to e-commerce

--some items such as food, and high cost jewelry is not available on internet.
