Electronic Logging Device (ELD) The ELD rule is intended to help create a safer work environment for drivers and make it easier, faster to accurately track, manage and share Records Of Duty Status (RODS) data.

“Since 1938, complex on-duty/off-duty logs for trucks were made with pencil and paper, virtually impossible to verify,” stated US Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. FMCSA states:• Estimated annual net benefit of more than $1B

– Reducing paperwork – Increase efficiency of roadside law enforcement personnel in

reviewing the driver records• Annually, should help:

– Save 26 lives – Prevent 562 injuries– Prevent 1,844 crashes involving CMVs
