• Benefits– Easy to do– Great way to deliver information at a distance– Students and Alumni can access the content anytime they want

• Downside– No way of knowing if your audience is absorbing the information– Slides need to be content heavy– Can be boring– No connection to those who view

• Online format for delivering content• It’s happening in real time so it’s basically like you

giving a PowerPoint presentation where no one can see you

• Resources to deliver webinars– DimDim (free but limited to 20 participants)– Adobe Connect (somewhat pricy)

Webinars• Benefits

– No one sees you if you’re shy– Cost effective for participants– Easy way to deliver content– Offers interactivity with participants– Don’t need a lot of tech abilities to do a webinar

• Downside– Generally has a scheduled time which may not fit with participants– You might feel like you’re talking to yourself– Easy for participants to “zone out” and do other things during the

presentation

Podcasts• Podcasts are recordings distributed across the Internet as

downloadable MP3 files.• Can be audio or visual format• Tools of the trade (for audio)

• You’ll need a decent video camera• Someone who understands editing software• Good microphone for sound quality• Well-lit space that doesn’t make you look too dark• You can embed videos into your website

– Can be great for those who are unable to attend workshops due to distance– Cost effective for participants– Can reach out to more people

• Downside– Technology skills are important– Good Equipment is essential– No interaction with those who are watching from home (although you can

add a real time chat function or utilize Twitter for more interaction– No way of knowing what information was retained and used unless you

receive feedback from participants
