Our Goals To help students meet the academic and social skills

they need in order to prepare for 1st grade. To provide a supportive and fun classroom learning

environment. To help students make new friends, discover new

interests, and develop skills in literacy, math, science, social studies, art, music, and physical education.

Reading 1st Semester goals

Recognize and produce rhyming words.

Understand concept of word.

Understand that words are read left to right.

Hear syllables and put them together to say the word

Reading 2nd Semester goals

Recognizing all capital/lower case letters and their sounds.

Identify beginning and ending sounds in words Reading predictable text using pictures and letter sounds

(typically a level 3-4) Thinking about what you already know about topic and

make connections before reading. Name a story’s setting and characters Tell the sequence of events in a story Name key concepts or big ideas and supporting details in

informational text Retell story including the beginning, middle, and end

Standards Based Grading Score of 4, 3, 3*, 2, 1 Interims/Progress Updates Report Cards go home in January and June Assessments- Students are expected to have at least have a

Positive Behavior Classroom

123 magic is an effective discipline plan for children k-12. It incorporates specific, gentle techniques to stop undesirable behavior as well as encourage positive behavior.

Homework

RAH- Read at home books Homework Calendars- Complete at least 20 activities

by the end of each month. Activities are created using Quarterly Objectives.

Both programs will start first week of October Monthly family project

Volunteers Parents must register on-line before they are able to

volunteer on field trips. It takes about 30 days for each application to be processed so please register ASAP.
