Physical Requirements:
Classroom and furniture conducive to a learning environment

Human Resource Requirements:
Facilitator is required to have at least three years’ relevant experience in driving instruction.
Facilitator/learner ratio (e.g. 1:30).
Registered assessors/facilitators/moderators..
Legal Requirements:
Compliance with the relevant sections of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Registration with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a private
provider.
Registration with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as a business entity.

1.1 Purpose of the Practical Skill Modules
The focus of the learning in this module is to provide the learner with an ability to equip the learner
instructor with the skills to apply the system of vehicle control in practical situations to avoid loss of
control.
The learner will be required to:
PM-01-PS01: Conduct yard test in line with the relevant legislated driving test manual (40%)
PM-01-PS02: Conduct road test in line with the relevant legislated driving test manual (60%)

Given an approved yard test area, test report (manual/electronic), relevant roadworthy vehicle,

train a learner driver on:

WM-01-WE01: Guide and train the learner driver on conducting a yard test in line with the system
of vehicle control (40%)
WM-01-WE02: Guide and train the learner driver on conducting a road test in line with the system
of vehicle control (60%)

A mentor to be a driving instructor with a minimum of five years’ continuous experience in
the relevant driver training field; or
A mentor to be a road safety practitioner with a minimum of five years’ continuous
experience in the field of instructing and or teaching; or
A mentor can be a former Examiner for Driving Licences with a minimum of five years’
continuous experience in the field of examining
Mentor: Learner ratio of 1:4 must not be exceeded.
Legal Requirements:
Compliance with the relevant prescribed safety and employment legislation.
