How the competition works:In addition to earning points throughdoing assignments, you will also beworking in groups to compete againstyour classmates for bonus points. 21. How the competition works:You will do this by playing a game inyour groups once a week. This happensin the first ten minutes of class, andeach team member must be present toplay.The day will be randomly chosenbetween Tuesday or Friday each week. 22. How the competition works:Each team member takes on a certainrole in the group, each with uniqueabilities.Each role is designed to help the groupin some way, so its always best ifeveryone shows up to contribute. 23. How the competition works:You will all be competing with othergroups for a large amount of bonuspoints awarded at the end of thesemester. 24. The Attacker attacks other groups, damagingtheir bonus point total.Since the group with the highest total at the endof the semester wins the biggest bonus, theattacker helps slow down your opponents.Later, more powerful abilities allow them to stealpoints from one group and add it to their own. 26. How the competition works:Each of these roles have different levelsof abilities. The strength of your abilityis directly related to your ownindividual grade.The better you do personally, the moreyou will be able to help your groupcollectively. 37. LevelingAs you earn individual points, you willgradually increase in level. New levelswill bring new abilities to use to helpyour group.Each level will require more and morepoints to achieve as the semesterprogresses. 38. Determining a winnerEach team begins with a pool of 100bonus points. As you progressthroughout the semester, your total willgo up and down quite a lot, dependingon how you play. 39. How the competition works:The team with the most points at theend of the semester will earn asubstantial amount of bonus points.Other teams will receive smalleramounts. 40. RememberThe competition is a work in progress.Throughout the semester we may needto tweak certain rules here or there totry and keep things fair. 41. Student Learning Objectives1. Design effective visual messages forvarious approaches that combine the useof print, online and other multimediacommunications.2. Evaluate media for creativity, continuity,technical qualities, ethical sensitivity, andemotional and social impact.3. Communicate thoughts clearly,succinctly and persuasively in textualand visual formats. 42.
